Cao Bang Provincial People's Committee has just issued a plan to implement the National Environmental Protection Plan for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050 in the province.
According to the plan, Cao Bang will divide the environment into 3 groups: strictly protected zones, emission-limited zones and the remaining zones. The zoning aims to tighten management of development activities, especially in residential areas, conservation areas and areas with high ecological value.
The province identifies nature conservation and biodiversity as key tasks, focusing on areas such as Phia Oac - Phia Den National Park, Cao Vit Gibbon Conservation Area, Non Nuoc Cao Bang Geopark.
The orientation to adjust the boundaries and area of Phia Oac - Phia Den National Park is also included in the plan.
The adjustment (if any) will be carried out on the basis of reviewing the current status of land use and conservation requirements, ensuring that it does not reduce the role of special-use forests and is consistent with the local management practices.
The goal is to protect the ecosystem, restore forests and preserve endangered and rare species.
In waste treatment, Cao Bang continues to implement waste sorting at source, investing in collection, transportation and treatment infrastructure in a modern direction.
The province plans to upgrade the waste treatment area in Tan Giang ward, and at the same time build more treatment areas in Ha Lang, Yen Tho and Minh Khai communes. Old landfills will also be renovated and the environment restored.
Along with that, the environmental monitoring system is strengthened with automatic stations in border gate areas and large river basins, serving monitoring and warning work.
Regarding pollution control, the province synchronously implements solutions for air, water and soil; strengthens urban wastewater treatment, controls waste sources from production and healthcare; and thoroughly handles residual pollution points.
Notably, Cao Bang orients the development of green economy, circular economy; encourages businesses to apply clean technology, save energy, and recycle waste.
In agriculture, the province promotes organic production, reusing by-products, towards the goal of net zero emissions by 2050.
To ensure effective implementation, the province will improve mechanisms and policies; strengthen inspection and examination; promote the application of digital technology and raise community awareness.
Departments, branches, and localities are assigned specific tasks, in which the Department of Agriculture and Environment is the agency in charge of implementation.
