Workshop dismantling commitment
On March 28, in an exchange with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Trinh Hong Son - Chairman of Ha Trung Commune People's Committee, Thanh Hoa province, said that regarding the reflection of people in hamlet 5 about Sahuntai Vietnam Shoe Material Processing Co., Ltd. causing odor and noise pollution, this enterprise has committed that within 45 days (from March 20), it will complete the dismantling and relocation of the factory to another location.
After people's reflections and the drastic involvement of functional agencies, this company has committed to dismantling and relocating the factory to another location a few kilometers away" - Mr. Son said.
According to the Chairman of Ha Trung Commune People's Committee, previously, after receiving feedback from people about the company causing pollution, the locality inspected and twice issued documents requesting the enterprise to stop operating.
However, after that, people continued to reflect that this company was still operating "secretly", causing households to be very upset. Faced with this situation, the Commune People's Committee assigned the Commune Police to strengthen inspection and supervision of the enterprise's production activities; if violations are detected, they will be strictly handled according to regulations.
Following that, Ha Trung Commune People's Committee also reported the incident to Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee. The Provincial Police and functional sectors also directly came to inspect and clarify at the company's production workshop area.
People are prolongedly upset
Previously, reflecting to Lao Dong Newspaper, many people in hamlet 5, Ha Trung commune, Thanh Hoa province said that in recent months (from the end of 2025 to the beginning of 2026), they were very upset about Sahuntai Vietnam Shoe Material Processing Co., Ltd.'s operation causing odor pollution, greatly affecting life and activities.
Mr. Nguyen Cao Son (64 years old, residing in hamlet 5, Ha Trung commune) said that around July 2025, the company returned to the locality to rent land in the Hong Hung supermarket area (belonging to Hong Hung Co., Ltd.) to build a shoe processing workshop, causing pollution odors to cover the residential area.
The factory area is located close to residential areas, so after production, almost every day people are affected by the burning smell, feeling dizzy when smelled for a long time" - Mr. Son said.
According to people in village 5, due to being too upset about the pollution situation, at village meetings and voter meetings, people have repeatedly petitioned, even sent petitions for "rescue" to Ha Trung Commune People's Committee and Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee to request handling.
Upon receiving the reflection, Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee assigned Ha Trung Commune People's Committee to verify and clarify. Through this, the Commune People's Committee established an inspection team, worked with businesses, requested to stop the operation of workshops, and search for other locations to relocate, to avoid prolonged grievances.
