On March 28, according to PV's investigation, Cao Bang Provincial People's Committee has just issued a decision on announcing the list of type II and type III urban areas in the area, in order to implement transitional regulations on urban classification according to Resolution No. 111/2025/UBTVQH15 of the National Assembly Standing Committee.
According to the decision, Cao Bang province has 14 urban areas that will be re-identified and classified after completing the arrangement of commune-level administrative units according to Resolution No. 1657/NQ-UBTVQH15.
Specifically, Cao Bang urban area is identified as a type II urban area, formed on the basis of the former Cao Bang city (later arranged to include 3 wards: Thuc Phan, Nung Tri Cao, Tan Giang), with an area of 107.12 km2.
Besides, there are 13 class III urban areas including: Bao Lam, Bao Lac, Thong Nong, Truong Ha, Tra Linh, Trung Khanh, Ha Lang, Quang Uyen, Phuc Hoa, Hoa An, Nguyen Binh, Tinh Tuc and Dong Khe.
The 13 urban areas mentioned above are transferred from towns - district centers before arranging administrative units.
This new regulation ensures compliance with management practices as well as the development orientation of the local urban system in the new period.
The Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Construction to preside over and coordinate with departments, branches and local authorities to organize a review of urban classification criteria; periodically assess urban quality, and at the same time guide the implementation of urban development plans in each stage.
