Helping people rise up in life
About 10 years ago, Dlie Ya was a particularly difficult area of Dak Lak province, with a large number of ethnic minorities living there.
At that time, the lives of many households were still struggling. Many families had production land but lacked capital, experience and knowledge, so they did not exploit it effectively, year-round struggling with poverty.
In that context, Mr. Chung Van Cao (born 1968, in Ea Dinh village, Dlie Ya commune) is one of the pioneers in developing the family economy. From the traditional medicine business, he gradually accumulated capital and invested in production on about 3 hectares of land growing durian, coffee and some other crops.

Recalling the difficult years, Mr. Cao said that about 10 years ago, many households in the village, both Kinh people and ethnic minorities, did not have experience in organizing production. Despite having land, household economic development was still limited due to lack of knowledge, capital and orientation.
Not resigned to difficulties, Mr. Cao proactively researched, learned, and applied techniques to care for crops suitable for local soil and climate conditions. When production gradually brought efficiency, it helped his family's economy become more and more stable.
From a household with many difficulties, Mr. Cao gradually built a spacious cơ ngơi. His family's high-rise house is currently one of the largest houses in the area.
When the family economy stabilized, Mr. Cao did not keep his own experience but actively guided people on how to do business and develop production.
When I have food and savings, people see the effectiveness, so they come to me to ask for guidance on how to do business. I both participate in the grassroots security and order team and farm, so if I have any practical experience, I share it with people. Everyone believes, follows and gradually has a better life," Mr. Cao shared.

Not only guiding production techniques, Mr. Cao also supports households facing capital difficulties. According to research, some cases that once fell into debt and life in poverty have been investigated by him, supported to connect with local authorities and banks to complete loan procedures for economic development.
Among them was Mr. Nguyen Van Hoa, a resident of the same area. Previously, his wife did not have a stable job, while the family had two young children, so most of the economic burden fell on the husband's shoulders.
Mr. Hoa said that thanks to Mr. Cao's support, mobilization and guidance on procedures for his family to be certified by the local authorities, access loan capital for business, and life to gradually stabilize.
I have a wife and two young children. Previously, my wife did not have a stable job, so all living expenses were borne by me. Fortunately, thanks to Mr. Cao's active support and mobilization of local authorities to confirm, I was able to borrow capital to do business, and my family life gradually stabilized like today," Mr. Hoa shared.

Replicating examples with spreading power
Mr. Tran Van Hai, specialist of the Culture - Society Department of Dlie Ya commune, said that he has many years of working experience, sticks to the grassroots level and understands the customs and habits of local people.
According to Mr. Hai, people who are both good at economics, reputable and actively support the community like Mr. Chung Van Cao are typical examples that need to be discovered, commended and replicated.
The discovery, commendation and replication of advanced examples in economic development is of great significance for sustainable poverty reduction. Households that are good at economic development not only create stable income for their families but are also practical examples for people, especially ethnic minorities, poor households, and near-poor households to learn and follow," Mr. Hai assessed.

According to Mr. Hai, in the past time, Dlie Ya commune has identified economic development, improving income and creating stable livelihoods as an important solution to gradually reduce poverty.
The locality focuses on propagating and mobilizing people to change their production thinking, boldly apply science and technology, and choose crops and livestock suitable to actual conditions.
Thanks to that, many households have gradually promoted their advantages in land and labor, proactively invested in production, increased income and improved their lives.
Mr. Le Phong Phu, Head of the Culture - Society Department of Dliê Ya Commune People's Committee, said that in the coming time, the locality will continue to review and discover typical models and individuals with economic efficiency and community support spirit to propagate, commend, and replicate.
Along with that, the commune will take advantage of resources from national target programs, improve the role, responsibility and capacity of reputable people and advanced examples in the area.
Expanding advanced examples is not only to praise achievements but more importantly to create a spreading effect in the community. When people see effective models right in their localities and can learn and apply them appropriately to their conditions, poverty reduction work will have a more sustainable foundation," Mr. Phu assessed.
