These days, along the coast of Dong Tien and Yen Hoa communes, many people flock to rake up small snails (also known as flip-flops) brought by waves to sell to traders.

To catch a large amount of snails and shrimp, people gather in groups to wade out to sea surface about 20 cm - 50 cm deep using hand tools such as bamboo and plastic rakes 1.5 m to 2.5 m long, with mesh bags attached at the bottom, raking snails and shrimp mixed under the sand layer.

According to local people, large numbers of snails and shrimp are washed ashore by waves, so every day families that rake a little also harvest from 300 kg to more than 500 kg, and a lot from 1 ton to more than 1.5 tons, depending on the appropriate water level.
In previous years, many snails and shrimp also appeared in this coastal area.
According to many people in Dong Tien and Yen Hoa communes, snails and shrimp are mainly purchased by traders to grind into feed for aquaculture and lobster farming, the purchase price at the beach is about 3,000 VND/kg.

Traders come to the coast to buy snails and shrimp, so people catch as much as they can and sell it all to the traders immediately. Every day, traders buy dozens of tons of snails and shrimp that people catch.
At the beginning of spring, thanks to the "luck" of the sea, many local people earned millions of VND by catching snails and shrimp drifting ashore, so everyone was excited and worked forgetting fatigue.
