Ho Chi Minh City - Functional agencies are arranging rescue in the Co May bridge area when a suspected drug-induced person climbed up high.

In the late afternoon of September 17, functional forces were organizing to blockade the scene and arrange rescue in the Co May bridge area (intersecting Ba Ria and Phuoc Thang wards, Ho Chi Minh City) when a suspected drug-induced person climbed onto the bridge arch tens of meters high.

The scene blockade caused a series of vehicles on Co May bridge to move slowly in the direction of moving to Vung Tau, at times cars lined up for about 2km.

It is known that the steel arch of Co May bridge was completed in 2023 to embellish the appearance of the gateway to the Vung Tau area. In which, the highest point is more than 26m above the ground.

Previously, from about 4:30 pm, some people discovered a young man with unusual signs climbing along the arch pillars up to the top of Co May bridge, so they quickly reported to functional agencies.

At about 4:30 pm, I saw this person on the bridge arch, and moving continuously very dangerously. Just a few minutes later, functional forces appeared," Ms. Nhi - a resident at the scene - said.

At one point, this person climbed down to the ground but then climbed back up high. Although functional forces organized persuasion from the ground, this person still did not climb down but stayed on the bridge arch.

At about 6:30 pm, despite the rainy and windy weather, this person was still at a height of tens of meters and refused to go down. Functional forces brought an elevated vehicle for people working at height to the scene but could not deploy to approach the subject.
