At around 11pm on December 5, after 5 days and nights of urgent construction, Southern Power Corporation (EVNSPC), An Giang Power Company (PCAG) in coordination with relevant units successfully energized the 110kV overhead line, fixing the problem of the 110kV Ha Tien - Phu Quoc underground cable. Thereby, the power supply to all customers in Phu Quoc special area has been restored at night.
According to EVNSPC, in recent days, the electricity industry has mobilized maximum human and material resources, increasing overtime to urgently fix underground cable incidents that affect the power supply in some areas of Phu Quoc. Initially expected to complete the repair by December 10, 2025, the electricity industry has made great efforts to be able to connect and supply electricity to Phu Quoc special area as soon as possible.

The above 110kV line was not built from the existing underground cable connection to the shore on the Ha Tien side to the incident site. The project was successfully deployed and energized in a short time, promptly restoring power supply to serve the production and business activities of people and businesses on the pearl island.
After restoring power supply to Phu Quoc special zone, PCAG continues to coordinate with relevant units to carry out the next steps to repair the damaged cable section and restore it to its original state.
Previously, at 1:45 p.m. on November 29, 2025, a 110kV 173 Ha Tien - 172 Phu Quoc power line broke out, affecting the power supply to Phu Quoc special area.
According to the record, Thuan Thanh KG Construction Design Consulting Co., Ltd. is constructing the railing in the safety corridor of the 110kV Ha Tien - Phu Quoc underground cable line on the Ha Tien coast. The forced strengthening of the steel piles on theca floors is believed to be the cause of the incident in the 110kV underground cable section supplying electricity to Phu Quoc special area.
Immediately after the incident, to maintain power supply and operate the power system safely, PCAG urgently implemented the priority power supply plan from the 110/22kV Nam Phu Quoc Station source through the 22kV medium voltage grid to priority customer groups; mobilized large customers with self-operating generators to supply electricity to take advantage of the remaining capacity to serve customers...
EVNSPC has also mobilized 20 mobile diesel generators of member Power Companies, with a total capacity of 3.5MW transported to Phu Quoc to increase power supply.
