On December 3, Southern Power Corporation (EVNSPC) said that 100% of customers in Phu Quoc special zone have been restored to power after the 110kV Ha Tien - Phu Quoc underground cable incident, including about 6,100 customers in the North Phu Quoc area who have been supplied with rotating power.
An Giang Power Company (PCAG) also said that Phu Quoc Special Zone is currently supplied with electricity from two sources: 110kV line 173 Ha Tien - 172 Phu Quoc (with 110kV Ha Tien - Phu Quoc underground cable section) to supply electricity to Phu Quoc 110kV transformer station and 220kV line 220kV Kien Binh - Phu Quoc is supplying 110kV electricity to Nam Phu Quoc 110kV transformer station. Because these two sources have not been connected to the Circular, when the underground cable incident occurred, it greatly affected the power supply.
After the incident of the 110kV Ha Tien - Phu Quoc underground cable line occurred at 13:15 on November 29, 2025, at 15:00 on the same day, PCAG carried out operations to transfer part of the load from the 110kV Phu Quoc transformer station to receive power from the 110kV Nam Phu Quoc transformer station via the 22kV line to restore power supply to the people.
In addition, PCAG has mobilized large customers with self- livered generators (300 customer stations) to take advantage of the remaining capacity to serve households; dismiss specialized customer loads, prioritize power supply for important loads such as: administrative centers, hospitals, fire prevention and fighting, telecommunications centers, water supply, night market, Phu Quoc international airport construction service area and daily loads; implement alternating power cuts between transmission lines to ensure the most customer service, meeting the essential needs of the people.

To provide maximum electricity to customers, EVNSPC has also mobilized all mobile diesel generators from affiliated Power Companies to Phu Quoc to increase power supply. The total number of generators mobilized to date is 20, with a power generation capacity of about 3.5MW. These diesel devices are ready to provide alternating power to public transformer stations far from the source to improve voltage. Up to now, all household customers and residents have been supplied with electricity, of which about 6,100 customers in the Bac Phu Quoc area have been supplied with alternating electricity.
Along with coordinating with relevant units to handle underground cable incidents, in order to ensure stable power supply to Phu Quoc, EVNSPC has directed PCAG to urgently coordinate with relevant departments, branches and sectors to temporarily build a section of the overhead line, with about 5 pillars (from the underground cable connection to the existing shore) to the incident site. Currently, materials, machinery and equipment have been gathered at the site, and construction forces are also urgently deploying the construction of this aerial section.
As reported, at 1:45 p.m. on November 29, 2025, a 110kV 173 Ha Tien - 172 Phu Quoc power line broke out, affecting the power supply to Phu Quoc special area.
According to initial records, Thuan Thanh KG Construction Design Consulting Co., Ltd. is constructing a railing in the safety corridor of the 110kV Ha Tien - Phu Quoc underground cableline on the Ha Tien coast. The forced strengthening of the steel piles on theca floor was the cause of the problem in the 110kV underground cable section supplying electricity to Phu Quoc special area.
