On August 1, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Dong Nai City decided to establish an inter-sectoral delegation to inspect the situation of unlicensed slaughtering; transportation and trading of animals and animal products that do not ensure veterinary hygiene and food safety; inspecting business activities and the use of banned substances in animal husbandry in the city.
According to the decision, the inter-sectoral inspection team is headed by Mr. Nguyen Quang Tuyen, Deputy Head of the Sub-Department of Livestock and Aquaculture of Dong Nai City.
The two Deputy Heads of the delegation included representatives of PC03 Department of Dong Nai City Police and the Sub-Department of Livestock and Fisheries. The delegation members also included representatives of the Market Management Sub-Department, Dong Nai Power Company, Veterinary Quarantine and Diagnostic Testing Center, leaders of regional livestock and aquaculture stations, and representatives of People's Committees of communes and wards when the delegation conducted inspections in the area.
Previously, as Lao Dong Newspaper reported, on July 26, the Ho Chi Minh City Sub-Department of Livestock and Veterinary Medicine discovered 3 shipments (including 280 pigs) transporting pigs positive for banned substances belonging to the Beta-Agonist group (Salbutamol, Clenbuterol); positive for African swine fever virus.
After that, on July 28, the Sub-Department of Livestock and Aquaculture of Dong Nai city established a verification team, traced the source and discovered 219 pigs in Tri An ward, Dong Nai city taking samples to quickly test positive for the banned substance Salbutamol. By July 30, the Sub-Department of Livestock and Aquaculture of Dong Nai city continued to coordinate with functional agencies to discover 2 more pig farms with a total of 1,782 pigs suspected of being positive for the banned substance Salbutamol.
