According to Lao Dong Newspaper's reporter, on the morning of February 4, many people flocked to Vieng market (Trung Thanh commune, Vu Ban district, Nam Dinh province), also known as Vieng Phu market, to enjoy spring and "buy luck, sell bad luck" early.
Ms. Vu Ngoc Trang (in Vu Ban district) said: "Vieng market is very crowded when it takes place on the night of the 7th and early morning of the 8th of January. Last year, I went at 6pm on the 7th, but it was so crowded that I had to jostle until 3am on the 8th to get home. That's why this year I went earlier, from the morning of the 7th I was at the market to choose and buy some seedlings, then went to the temples to pray for good luck at the beginning of the year."
Also choosing to go to Vieng market to "buy luck, sell bad luck" from the morning of the 7th, Ms. Hong Ngoc (from Thai Binh) said: "Although this year I went from the morning of the 7th, I still saw a lot of people. I usually go around from the market gate in Trung Thanh commune to Goi town, then return. This year, I chose to buy 5 clumps of copper coins, a bag of salt, and rice with the hope that the whole family will have luck, peace, and fortune all year round."
At Vieng Phu market, the goods are very rich and diverse, forming a fair for the socio-economic exhibition of Vu Ban district. Here there are all kinds of goods such as flowers, ornamental plants, agricultural tools, handicrafts made of rattan and bamboo, bronze, wooden products, ceramics, antiques... and all kinds of modern consumer products produced by individuals and businesses inside and outside the province.
It is known that because the space for the activities of the Vieng Phu fair spread from Goi town through Kim Thai commune to Trung Thanh commune, attracting a sudden high concentration of people and vehicles, the Vieng market organizing committee mobilized hundreds of police and military officers and soldiers to be on duty 24/7.
In addition, set up checkpoints to spread out, regulate traffic and ensure security, order, traffic safety, prevent fires and explosions, prevent gambling, theft and other illegal activities during the festival.
