In the afternoon of February 22, Lao Dong Newspaper reporters' records on Ho Chi Minh Road and National Highway 6 showed a sharp increase in the number of vehicles.
The rain made the road surface slippery, many people wore raincoats tightly, carrying bulky belongings, struggling to travel hundreds of kilometers.
The stream of motorbikes followed each other for a long time, especially in sections passing through densely populated areas and intersections. At some times, vehicles were locally congested due to increased traffic volume combined with bad weather.
Ms. Lo Thi Lan (from Son La) said that her family moved from the morning, but due to rain and crowded roads, the travel time was longer than expected.
According to Ms. Lan, it was drizzling all day, so walking was very tiring, especially when carrying a lot of luggage, but she had to try to return to Hanoi early to go to work tomorrow.
Mr. Hoang Van Tuan (from Thanh Hoa) shared: "I choose to ride a motorbike to be proactive in time, but the cold rain makes travel much more difficult. When I get close to Hanoi, there are many vehicles, and some sections have to go very slowly.

Meanwhile, Mr. Bui Van Nam (a business household on the Ho Chi Minh road) informed that in the last days of the Tet holiday, the number of vehicles increases every year. From noon, it starts to be crowded, and in the late afternoon, cars line up. It's raining, so everyone drives slowly, easily causing congestion.
Talking to a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Doan - Head of Tan Lac Traffic Police Station (Phu Tho Provincial Police) - informed that after the Tet holiday, the traffic volume increased sharply while the cold rainy weather reduced visibility and increased the risk of traffic unsafety.
Traffic police units have strengthened patrols and traffic diversion at points at risk of congestion to ensure smooth traffic.
According to Mr. Doan, people are advised to check their vehicles before moving, maintain a safe distance, limit speeding when it rains and proactively choose the appropriate time to avoid prolonged congestion.

It is forecasted that on the peak day at the end of the holiday, the number of vehicles pouring into Hanoi will continue to increase, especially in the late afternoon and evening hours.
Moving in unfavorable weather conditions requires traffic participants to raise awareness to ensure safety for themselves and those around them.
In addition, the Traffic Police Department of the Provincial Police has directed to strengthen handling of violations of carrying more people than prescribed, alcohol concentration violations as well as speeding violations. Especially handling alcohol concentration throughout Tet, throughout the night" - Lieutenant Colonel Doan added.
