On December 26, Southern Power Corporation (EVNSPC) held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Giao Long - Phu Thuan 110 kV transmission line and signed a cooperation agreement with the People's Committee of Ben Tre province to complete key 110 kV power grid projects in Ben Tre province.
Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Duc - General Director of EVNSPC - said that in the period of 2020-2025, EVNSPC has invested more than 2,261 billion VND in power grid projects in Ben Tre, of which 1,356.8 billion VND is for medium and low voltage grid and 904.4 billion VND is for 110kV grid.
In 2024, EVNSPC invested 478 billion VND, including the Thanh Tan 110kV Station which was put into operation in April 2024. It is expected that in 2025, the investment level will increase to 1,024 billion VND, putting Ben Tre in the group of provinces receiving the largest investment capital in the Southern region.
Currently, EVNSPC is accelerating the construction of the Giao Long - Phu Thuan - Binh Dai 110kV Line project; the Ba Tri - Binh Thanh 110kV Line project, expected to be completed before April 30, 2025. These projects will improve grid connectivity, ensure stable power supply, and meet the development requirements of Ben Tre province.
Assessing that site clearance work at some projects is still facing difficulties, affecting progress, EVNSPC recommends that the People's Committee of Ben Tre province direct localities to step up mobilizing people's consensus, removing obstacles and supporting construction. EVNSPC commits to closely coordinate with the province to soon complete power projects, contributing to promoting sustainable development of the locality in the coming period.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Minh Canh - Vice Chairman of Ben Tre Provincial People's Committee - said that Ben Tre province currently has Giao Long I, II Industrial Park and An Hiep Industrial Park which are 100% occupied. There are 8 industrial clusters established with a total area of 267.94 hectares. Of which, 4 industrial clusters have been invested and put into operation.
According to Mr. Canh, Ben Tre province is focusing on directing the acceleration of the implementation of Phu Thuan Industrial Park. The early completion of projects will ensure stable power supply for industrial parks such as Giao Long, Phu Thuan and other key areas. In particular, the Giao Long - Phu Thuan 110kV transmission line project, when put into operation, will create conditions for the energization of Phu Thuan 110kV Station, which will supply power to the entire Phu Thuan Industrial Park in operation by 2025 and neighboring areas of Chau Thanh and Binh Dai districts.
The Vice Chairman of Ben Tre Provincial People's Committee also pledged that the locality will accompany the Electricity sector to remove difficulties, speed up progress and ensure construction quality, aiming for sustainable and comprehensive development.
At the ceremony, EVNSPC and Ben Tre Provincial People's Committee signed an agreement to compete to complete 110kV power grid projects in Ben Tre province. At the same time, groundbreaking ceremony was held for the Giao Long - Phu Thuan 110kV power line project. This is one of the practical activities to achieve achievements to welcome the 12th Provincial Party Congress, term 2025-2030, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of EVNSPC's establishment and the 70th anniversary of Vietnam Electricity's Traditional Day and to realize the commitment and agreement between EVNSPC and Ben Tre provincial leaders on completing the 110kV power grid, meeting the electricity supply for production and attracting investment in Ben Tre province.
