Renovation and upgrading of the main trunk traffic route
Hung Vuong Street is the main road connecting National Highway 2 with the center of Phu Tho town before. This road is more than 8km long, passing through Phong Chau ward, Phu Tho ward and Au Co ward.
In which, the Hung Vuong road section from the area adjacent to Phu Loi urban area (Phu Tho ward) through Phu Ha industrial park to the intersection with provincial road 320 (Phong Chau ward) - more than 4km long - has been invested in upgrading to be spacious and modern.
However, the remaining nearly 1km section from National Highway 2 to the intersection with provincial road 320, belonging to Phong Chau ward, with the road surface still being cement concrete, is now old and degraded.
The project to upgrade and renovate Hung Vuong road section from provincial road 320B to National Highway 2 was approved for investment policy by the old Phu Tho Town People's Committee from October 14, 2024, according to Decision No. 2746/QD-UBND.
After implementing the two-level local government model, the project was transferred to Phong Chau Ward People's Committee for implementation. The total investment of the project is more than 47 billion VND, with Phong Chau Ward Project Management Board as the Investor.
At the end of 2025, Package No. 07: Construction and installation of the project has completed the contractor selection and started construction to date (the winning bid price is nearly 41 billion VND).
According to records of Lao Dong Newspaper reporters in the last days of May 2026, engineers, workers and vehicles and machinery are constructing median strips and sidewalks.
According to the design, the project will construct a 997.15m long road according to the road level as the main axis of the area along with a drainage system and other auxiliary works.
Like the section from Phu Tho ward to the intersection with provincial road 320 (Phong Chau ward), the road section being constructed will have a roadbed width of 35m.
In which, the road surface width is 21m, the median strip width is 3m, and the sidewalk width is 3.3m on each side.
In particular, the current cement concrete road surface will be replaced with asphalt concrete. Along with that, the drainage system is renovated, both sidewalks are paved with bricks and planted with trees...
Construction ahead of schedule, expected to be completed soon
Ms. Nguyen Thi Cu - a resident of area 4, Phong Chau ward shared: "This road section being renovated and upgraded will be synchronized with the section passing through Phu Ha industrial park, now waiting for asphalt paving is more beautiful, the appearance of the main urban road will become more spacious and modern".
Talking to a reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Thieu Quang Cong - Director of Phong Chau Ward Project Management Board said that so far the project has repaired and replenished the road surface concrete on damaged sections. It is expected that the construction unit will spread earthen mesh and construct the road surface from June 10 - June 30, 2026.
For sidewalks, 7,400/8115m2 has been completed, expected to be completed on June 30, 2026; planted 150/150 new green trees; completed the installation of new median strips, expected to plant median strip trees from June 1 - June 15, 2026; traffic signs, painted road markings, painted median strips are expected to be constructed from June 15 - June 30, 2026
The project progress requirement is until the end of this year, but it is expected to be completed around July - August. The progress has been accelerated partly due to the results of site clearance. During the process of mobilization and propaganda, households have proactively dismantled violating works on sidewalks and corridors, and handed over the site early to the construction unit" - Mr. Cong shared.
