The main route is more than 50km long connecting Phu Tho - Lao Cai
The inter-regional road project connecting Ho Chi Minh Road with National Highway 70B, National Highway 32C from Phu Tho province to Yen Bai province (now Lao Cai province) - has a total adjusted investment of 2,120 billion VND.
The project started on December 14, 2021, building a main route more than 53.5km long through old districts of Phu Tho province such as: Tam Nong, Cam Khe, Ha Hoa - with a design according to the scale of a grade III mountain road, design speed of 60 km/h.
Since 2024, more than 50km of the main route has been handed over and put into operation, meeting the travel needs of people in the above-mentioned areas.
The remaining more than 2km at the beginning of the main route (Km0 - Km2+452) in Van Xuan commune, Phu Tho province - which is an additional construction section - has also completed all items to date.
According to records of Lao Dong Newspaper reporters in mid-June 2026, vehicles can now travel on the above route section.
After this route section completes the acceptance and handover procedures, the entire main inter-regional road will be officially completed.
Extended inter-regional road connecting Phong Chau bridge area
Connecting directly to Km0 of the inter-regional road, forming a intersection with National Highway 32 (to Thanh Son area) is an extended inter-regional road connecting National Highway 32 in Tam Nong commune.
This route section belongs to Package No. 60: Construction of the project's extended road; winning bid price of nearly 97.6 billion VND, deployed from May 2025.
The extended inter-regional road has a total length of 3.726km, designed according to level III plain road standards, design speed of 80 km/h, constructed through Van Xuan and Tam Nong communes.
According to records, after more than 1 year of construction, most of the entire route has been asphalted; the Ho Chi Minh road overpass item along with the drainage system, branch lines, turns... have also been completed.
The route section is built through fields, hillsides, crossing the Ho Chi Minh road and connecting to National Highway 32 at Km76+150 (adjacent to Tam Nong Regional Medical Center, about 400m from Phong Chau bridge).
Inter-regional branch road connecting Cam Khe industrial park
Along with the main route and the extended road, the inter-regional road project also deploys a branch connecting Cam Khe industrial park in Cam Khe commune.
The branch line was deployed from the end of October 2024, after Package No. 32: Construction of the branch line of the project completed the contractor selection (winning bid price of more than 96 billion VND).
The project has a total length of about 3.083km, designed according to grade III plain road standards, design speed of 80 km/h, the starting point of the route intersects with the main route at Km23+920, the ending point connects to the main road of Cam Khe industrial park.
According to records, after many months of field-crossing and mountain-crossing construction, the straight road connecting from the inter-regional road to the above-mentioned industrial park has many sections completed. A small number of sections adjacent to Cam Khe industrial park are under construction.
Talking to a reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Do The Nam - Deputy Director of Phu Tho Regional Project Management Board - said that regarding the construction situation, with the main route (starting from Km0 - Km2+450), so far the contractor has basically completed construction, and is completing procedures to hand over and put into operation.
With the extended inter-regional road, the contractor is urgently completing the work of asphalt concrete pavement and arranging traffic safety systems.
For the branch connecting Cam Khe industrial park, the construction of asphalt concrete pavement and traffic safety section from Km0 - Km2+300 has been basically completed, and the Dong Men bridge has been completed.
Currently, the contractor is focusing machinery to complete the volume of road surface drainage ditches, crushed stone paving, and asphalt concrete pavement section from Km2+300 - Km3+083.
According to Mr. Nam, the main route construction packages, the extended inter-regional road, and the branch connecting Cam Khe industrial park - of the inter-regional road project all set a target to be completed before June 30, 2026.
