On January 26, the coastal road project through Thua Thien Hue province (now Hue City) and the bridge over Thuan An estuary continued to be implemented with many clear steps forward. However, there are still some issues that need to be resolved to ensure progress and quality of the project.
The project is divided into phases, of which phase 1 has a total route length of 7.785 km, including 2.36 km of bridge through Thuan An gate. The road is divided into two sections, section 1A with a length of about 3.24 km and section 1B with a length of 2.19 km. Important infrastructure projects such as drainage, traffic safety system, fire and lighting water supply system are being implemented in parallel.

According to a report from the Hue City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board, the joint venture construction companies have completed many important items. Dat Phuong Group Joint Stock Company has completed the bridge section and part of the road, while Tan Nam Construction Joint Stock Company has also completed the roadbed and level drainage system. However, some items such as asphalt concrete paving and taluy reinforcement are still under construction.
One of the main reasons leading to the delay in construction progress is site clearance (GPMB). In Thuan An ward, GPMB work related to protection forest land and tombs has been mostly completed, but some households have not yet received compensation or are dismantling houses, causing difficulties in timely handover of land.
Adjustments to supplement the vertical drainage system, sidewalks, and lighting system also affect the progress. These adjustments are aimed at ensuring the project is complete in terms of infrastructure but increase construction time.

To ensure the completion progress by the end of 2025, Hue City People's Committee has proposed a number of solutions. First, it is necessary to accelerate site clearance, especially for households that have not received compensation or are facing resettlement problems. Functional agencies need to closely coordinate with households to promptly resolve these problems and accelerate site clearance and handover.
Second, it is necessary to strengthen coordination between construction contractors and project management agencies to solve problems arising during construction. Contractors need to focus resources to complete the remaining items, especially drainage works, lighting systems and traffic safety works.
According to the project investor, it is expected that by the second quarter of this year, phase 1 will be fully completed and officially put into operation and exploitation.
