The Dong Thanh reservoir project in Nam Ban Lam Ha commune (Lam Dong province) was once highly anticipated.
However, up to now, the project is facing many challenges regarding landslides and completing related procedures.
According to documents, the Dong Thanh Reservoir Project will start construction in 2022. The total area of the project is over 48 hectares, with a total investment of nearly 500 billion VND.
The project is expected to be completed and put into use in 2024, providing irrigation water for 700 hectares of cultivated land and domestic water for 7,500 households.
However, in July 2023, during the construction process, the project area experienced serious subsidence and landslides.
According to records, the landslide has caused many reinforced concrete items of the project to be seriously deformed and damaged.
Specifically, the flood discharge of the project was cracked and deviated from the original location. The connection between the two concrete blocks was separated, causing the outer soil to be seriously eroded by rainwater.
The landslide not only affected the project but also affected many households in Dong Anh village, Nam Ban Lam Ha commune.
One of the affected households said that the 10cm thick concrete roadbed was cracked, with an opening of nearly 20cm.
Notably, after 2 years of landslides, the villa worth more than 3 billion VND of Mr. Nguyen Van Thang's family became dilapidated and deserted.
Many items of the house are gradually cracking and collapsing. A local resident said that Mr. Thang's family had not completed and moved to a new house until recently when the Dong Thanh reservoir area had sunk.
Mr. Thang has now moved to another place to live to ensure safety.
According to the leader of the People's Committee of Nam Ban Lam Ha commune (Lam Dong), the locality has installed landslide warning signs at many locations in the project area.
At the same time, local authorities are coordinating with relevant agencies to complete documents and procedures, and implement resettlement areas for affected households.
Regarding the above project, in April 2024, Lam Dong Provincial Inspectorate announced the inspection conclusion, pointing out many violations.
Accordingly, the project has not been completed according to the set target. The competent authority (old Lam Ha District People's Committee) has not yet approved the resettlement land price. This project has not yet completed land procedures...
