The project to renovate and expand Nguyen Tuan Street was approved by the People's Committee of the old Thanh Xuan District in 2018, with a total investment of nearly 400 billion VND.
The project is 720m long, starting at the intersection with Nguyen Trai Street, ending at Lane 162 Nguyen Tuan, with a cross-section of 21m, including a 15m wide roadway and 3m wide sidewalks on both sides.
To implement the project to renovate and expand Nguyen Tuan Street, Thanh Xuan District must reclaim and clear 14,334m2 of land from 11 organizations and 160 households and individuals.
However, the above traffic project could not be implemented according to the original plan because many households did not agree to hand over the site.
After many propaganda and mobilization campaigns, it was not until November 2024 that the site clearance for the Nguyen Tuan Street expansion project was basically completed.
The local government has since handed over most of the site to the contractor to implement the project, aiming to complete the project in 2025.
From July 1, after operating the two-level government, the Nguyen Tuan Street expansion project was transferred to Thanh Xuan Ward People's Committee as the investor.
According to records, up to now, the Nguyen Tuan Street expansion project has completed the C19 raw grain asphalt concrete section for the road surface to renew the section from alley 162 Nguyen Tuan to Nguyen Huy Tuong intersection.
At this section, the construction unit has removed the corrugated iron fence, expanded the technical system, and ensured ventilation to serve the 80th Anniversary of National Day on September 2.
Speaking to Lao Dong Newspaper reporter, Mr. Dang Hoang Linh (Director of the Investment - Infrastructure Project Management Board of Thanh Xuan Ward) said that the construction unit is currently implementing the installation of sewers and accelerators for the water supply and drainage system; at the same time, constructing the installation of a pipeline system for communication and lighting.
However, according to the Director of the Thanh Xuan Ward Infrastructure Investment Project Management Board, the project implementation process still faces some difficulties and problems.
Accordingly, in the process of converting local government at 2 levels, it is necessary to change investors and bidding processes, so some bidding packages do not ensure the progress as originally planned (package for relocating power systems, information systems...).
Regarding compensation and site clearance, Mr. Dang Hoang Linh said that there is currently a case at address 35A Nguyen Tuan Street of 6 households in an old 2-storey apartment building that does not have a specific land price to calculate compensation when the state reclaims land to implement the project.
Due to the need to resolve some shortcomings as well as difficulties and problems, the completion progress of the entire project was postponed to March 2026, instead of 2025 as originally planned.
