The Lo River is a major tributary of the Red River, originating from Yunnan province (China) with the name Panlongjiang and flowing through Ha Giang, Tuyen Quang, Phu Tho provinces before flowing into the Bach Hac intersection (Phu Tho).

The water level of the Lo River at Tuyen Quang station on average in July is 16.50m, highest 19.49m, lowest 14.62m; at Vu Quang station, the average is 9.01m, highest 11.26m, lowest 7.42m.

We river people are very interested in the water level of the Lo River. As at the current level, ships and boats travel much easier and safer than when the river was shallow in previous months.
According to the forecast bulletin, short-term hydrological warning issued at 10:30 am on August 3 by the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the water level of the Lo River at Tuyen Quang station at 7:00 am on August 3 was at 16.90m, at the same time at Vu Quang station it was 9.18m.
It is forecasted that throughout August 2026, the water level on the Lo River at Tuyen Quang station and Vu Quang station will continue to fluctuate according to the regulation of the above-level hydropower plant and there is a possibility of 1-2 floods. However, the water level at the above 2 hydrological stations is still below alarm level 1.
It is forecasted that the water level of the Lo River at Tuyen Quang station in August averages 16.38m, highest 19.50m, lowest 14.50m; at Vu Quang station, the average is 8.50m, highest 11.80m, lowest 6.50m.
