On the afternoon of April 25, according to data from satellite cloud images, weather radar and lightning positioning systems, the convective cloud area is developing strongly, causing rain with thunderstorms and lightning on a large scale in wards/communes such as Binh Duong, Tan Binh, Ben Cat, Tan Thai.
In addition, thunderstorm clouds formed from the Tay Ninh and Dong Nai areas are also increasing in intensity, tending to expand and spread to the Ho Chi Minh City area.
In the next 3 hours, convective clouds will continue to develop, causing showers with thunderstorms and lightning over a wide area in Binh Duong, Tan Binh, Ben Cat, Tan Thai wards/communes, then it is likely to spread to neighboring areas.
Common rainfall is from 5-20 mm, in some places over 30 mm. During thunderstorms, it is necessary to be wary of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind at level 5-7 (8-17 m/s), with the risk of localized flooding in low-lying areas. The main cause is the developing high-altitude wind disturbances.
In the next 24-48 hours, the low pressure trough through the North Central region tends to weaken and gradually fill up. Above, the subtropical high pressure with its axis passing through the South Central region - Southern region maintains a stable operating state, while easterly wind disturbances above are weak.
From 3-10 days, the low pressure trough with an axis of about 24-27 degrees North latitude connects to the low pressure area to the West, then is compressed and gradually moves south due to the impact of continental high pressure from the North.
Above, the subtropical high pressure continues to encroach westward and operate strongly, maintaining its axis through the South Central - Southern region, until around April 27-28, it tends to weaken slightly. High-altitude disturbances are forecast to operate more clearly from around April 27 onwards.
Regarding impacts, the hot weather in the South in the afternoon increases the risk of fire and explosion and affects health, especially cardiovascular diseases. Meanwhile, thunderstorms in the late afternoon accompanied by tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind can cause damage to agricultural production, causing trees to fall, damage to houses, traffic works and infrastructure.
