According to the meteorological agency, storm Kalmaegi (storm No. 13.) is active and tends to continue to increase in intensity.
Speaking with Lao Dong, Mr. Le Dinh Quyet - Head of Forecasting Department, Southern Hydrometeorological Station, said that storm Kalmaegi has entered the eastern sea area of the central East Sea, becoming the 13th storm in the East Sea in 2025. Storm No. 13 does not directly affect the Southern region, but is very strong when entering the East Sea.
These days, the Southern region continues to have rain due to the influence of the tropical convergence zone with an axis through the South - South Central region, connecting with the circulation of storm Kalmaegi. The rainfall may be heavy, even exceeding 100 mm on some days.

In the sea area from Lam Dong to Ca Mau, the West to Southwest winds will gradually increase to level 5, waves 1.5-2.5 m high, the sea will be slightly rough, sometimes rough in thunderstorms. In particular, Lam Dong sea area has winds of level 5, sometimes level 6, gusts of level 7-8, waves 2.0-3.0 m high, rough seas. The sea area of Ca Mau - An Giang - Phu Quoc has West to Southwest winds of level 3-4, waves 0.5-1.5 m high, normal sea, sometimes lightly moving in thunderstorms. In both sea areas, there will be showers and thunderstorms; during thunderstorms, beware of tornadoes and strong gusts of wind of level 6-7.
The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has issued urgent instructions on response to storm Kalmaegi (storm No. 13,). Localities are required to prepare plans to mobilize human resources, materials, and machinery to deal with thunderstorms, tornadoes, landslides, and flooding due to heavy rain combined with high tides.
All units must be on duty strictly 24/7, closely monitor weather developments, forecast the worst situation and promptly support people when needed. Wards, communes and special zones must review and identify vulnerable areas at risk of landslides or flooding to proactively prevent them.
In particular, coastal areas, island communes, Con Dao special zone and related units such as the Border Guard, Coast Guard Information Station, Fisheries Sub-Department, Fisheries Control must urgently develop plans to ensure safety for people and boats. Units are assigned to closely monitor the storm's developments and regularly notify vehicle owners to proactively take shelter. Fishing vessels operating far from shore must be instructed to leave the danger zone, absolutely not allowing crew members to stay on the vessel when the storm makes landfall.
Regarding technical infrastructure, the Department of Construction and drainage units, infrastructure management, and irrigation are assigned to review and ensure safety for the works under construction, especially the dykes and reservoirs. Units operating reservoirs, pumping stations, and tidal control culverts must arrange mobile pumps to quickly handle flooded areas during heavy rain and high tides.
The Command, Police and Youth Volunteer Force must prepare rescue forces and means in case of emergency situations. The Department of Construction and the Green Park Company need to urgently prune and reinforce trees, limit accidents caused by strong winds and promptly handle falling incidents.
The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee also requested the Department of Tourism and Saigon Tourism Corporation to temporarily suspend the operation of tourist boats on rivers and sea when the weather is dangerous; strictly check safety equipment for tourists. The Power Corporation must ensure quick handling of power line incidents caused by thunderstorms and tornadoes.
The Department of Culture and Sports is assigned to coordinate inspection, tying up, reinforcing large billboards and limiting outdoor activities when there are bad weather warnings. Reservoir and hydropower management units need to operate according to the correct procedures to ensure the safety of the project and reduce flooding in downstream areas.
