According to the Southern Hydrometeorological Station, thunderstorms are about to increase again in Ho Chi Minh City and neighboring provinces and cities.

Weather forecast for the next 24 to 48 hours, continental cold high pressure continues to strengthen strongly towards the South after stable activity.

Northeast winds are strong in the sea off the Southeast. Above, the subtropical high pressure system with an axis across the Central region is operating stably.

Weather in the South: variable clouds, sunny days. Showers and thunderstorms in some places in the evening and at night. During thunderstorms, beware of lightning and strong gusts of wind.

From 72 hours, the cold continental high pressure weakened and gradually moved to the East, and around December 2 it weakened again. The Northeast wind was strong in the sea off the Southeast, from around November 29-30, the Northeast wind slightly decreased in intensity.

Above, the subtropical high pressure is stable, weakening and gradually moving east around November 30. The easterly wind disturbance tends to be more active around December 2-4.

Weather in the South: Cloudy and changeable. Light fog in some places in the early morning, sunny during the day. Showers and thunderstorms in some places in the late afternoon and evening. Rain tends to increase on December 2-3, with some places experiencing moderate rain.

During thunderstorms, there is a risk of extreme weather phenomena such as lightning and strong gusts of wind, which are not favorable for outdoor activities and traffic.

Regarding high tides, water levels at most stations rose rapidly, then fell again on the last two days of the week. The highest peak tide of the week appeared on the weekend at a level approximately equal to or about 5 cm higher than the same period last year, while the lowest bottom tide of the week appeared on the weekend and was about 20-30 cm higher than the same period in 2023.

In the next 5 days, the highest water level at the stations will continue to decrease. The peak water level next week will be high, potentially causing flooding in low-lying areas and riverside areas, affecting economic and social activities and life in the Ho Chi Minh City area.
