Regarding the incident of a group of tourists hospitalized due to suspected food poisoning after eating seafood at Moc buffet restaurant (Nguyen Thi Dinh street, Quy Nhon city), the leader of Binh Dinh province's Department of Health said that they had inspected and reminded the restaurant's business operations. However, it is very difficult to determine whether there was poisoning or not.
"To have enough basis to conclude that the group of guests were poisoned after eating at Moc restaurant is very complicated, it is a long story. Because the guests were only slightly sick and they did not complain, the authorities did not take samples for testing to draw conclusions. Currently, it is only suspected poisoning, so the restaurant is still allowed to operate normally," said the leader of Binh Dinh Province's Department of Health.
According to the leader of the Binh Dinh Province Department of Health, through investigation, the cause of the above incident may be due to the customer's self-grilling of raw seafood not being guaranteed.
"We have inspected and corrected the restaurant regarding this issue, and reminded the restaurant to arrange staff to serve customers and not allow customers to grill by themselves to ensure safety," he said.
Previously, on the evening of January 18, a group of tourists (22 people) from Hanoi traveling to Binh Dinh went to Moc buffet restaurant to eat. By the early morning of January 19, many people in the group showed signs of vomiting, fever, stomachache... and had to be hospitalized for treatment.
Speaking to Lao Dong, the leader of Thu Phuc General Hospital (Quy Nhon City) said that a group of 8 people who went to Moc buffet restaurant to eat seafood had symptoms of allergies, vomiting, suspected of food poisoning, so they bought medicine to take and got better. As for Ms. H and her child (tourists from Hanoi), their condition was more serious and they had to be hospitalized (the child was 8 months old) for emergency treatment.
"After treatment, the patient's health has stabilized and he has requested to be discharged from the hospital. We are actively treating him and have decided to waive all hospital fees for the family, because they are tourists coming to Binh Dinh. This is an unexpected incident, we hope everyone will capture the beautiful image of Binh Dinh people when they set foot in this land," he said.
Ms. H's husband (a tourist from Hanoi) recounted that that night, the whole group went to a hot pot buffet restaurant. After eating, some people had stomach aches and vomited... that night, while others showed unusual symptoms the next morning and had to be hospitalized for treatment. "My wife and children were diagnosed with poisoning causing digestive disorders," Ms. H's husband said.
"That day, I found the congee to be watery and not fresh enough, so I didn't dare feed it to my child. My wife had to go buy white congee from another restaurant for him to eat. Some of the shrimp had their heads off and weren't fresh.
This is a big restaurant chain, I think they should control it more carefully. Because tourists come here for a complete trip, they must ensure the health and safety of their guests," said Ms. H's husband.
