On the afternoon of January 16, information from the People's Committee of Thanh Son commune (Nhu Xuan district, Thanh Hoa province) said that an electric shock incident had just occurred in the area, causing 3 casualties.
According to initial information, the incident occurred at around 8:30 a.m. on January 16, in Quan 1 village (Thanh Son commune, Nhu Xuan district).
At this time, Mr. Lang Van B. (41 years old, residing in Quan 1 village, Thanh Son commune) and Mr. Lang Van C. (30 years old, residing in the same village) invited each other to make a decorative pole to prepare for the upcoming Lunar New Year of At Ty.
After finishing his house's flagpole, Mr. B. repaired the flagpole that Mr. C. had built before. Because the flagpole was so high, when he was about to bury it, it suddenly tilted and fell, hitting a 35 kV power line.
At that time, Mr. B. was holding the pole and was electrocuted. Mr. C., who was standing nearby, was also electrocuted and injured his leg. However, he was lucky to escape. Mr. Tr. (a neighbor) heard the cry for help and came to help, but was also electrocuted and thrown outside.
The victim was then quickly taken to the commune health station for emergency treatment by local people, however Mr. B. died.
