The inter-regional road project connecting Ho Chi Minh Road with National Highway 70B, National Highway 32C from Phu Tho province to Yen Bai province (now Lao Cai province) - has a total adjusted investment of 2,120 billion VND.
To date, more than 53km of the main route has been handed over and put into use. Along with that, more than 2km at the beginning of the route (from Km0 - Km2+452) passing through Van Xuan commune is in the process of completion.

Also directly connected to the main inter-regional road, the project is currently implementing the construction of an extended road (from Km0) connecting to National Highway 32 (at Km76+150).
The above-mentioned section belongs to Package No. 60: Construction of the extended road; winning bid price of nearly 97.6 billion VND, deployed from May 2025.

The project has a total length of 3.726km, designed according to grade III plain road standards, design speed of 80 km/h, constructed through Van Xuan and Tam Nong communes (the end point of the route connects near Phong Chau bridge).
According to records of Lao Dong Newspaper reporters in early May 2026, after nearly 1 year of construction, the route section has taken shape after the contractor completed the roadbed excavation and embankment work.

High taluys have been formed, many road sections have been paved with crushed stone, some sections have been asphalted, and auxiliary works on the route are also being urgently constructed...

The extended inter-regional road is built through the fields of Van Xuan commune, the hillsides of Tam Nong commune (the section bordering Van Xuan industrial cluster), crossing the Ho Chi Minh road and connecting to National Highway 32.
Mr. Nguyen Van Hai - a resident living in Hung Viet commune, Phu Tho province - shared: "After this road and the beginning of the inter-regional road are completed, people in the former Yen Lap and Cam Khe districts can conveniently move along the inter-regional road to go through Phong Chau bridge.

Talking to a reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Do The Nam - Deputy Director of Phu Tho Regional Project Management Board - said that currently, the contractor is focusing machinery to complete the volume of asphalt concrete paving items and auxiliary works on the route. It is expected to complete the project and hand it over for use before June 30, 2026.
Previously, on February 9, 2026, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc just signed Decision No. 262/QD-TTg on adjusting the central budget reserve source for 2024 assigned to the Ministry of Construction to supplement with corresponding targets for Phu Tho province.
