On September 22, Mr. Bui Hoang Giang - Vice Chairman of Bao Lam 2 Commune People's Committee (Lam Dong) - said that after inspecting the scene, the locality had sent a report to the Department of Agriculture and Environment on the landslide and subsidence situation in the Dak Long Thuong lake area.
From the night of September 17 to September 20, heavy and prolonged rain occurred in Bao Lam 2 commune, causing landslides and subsidence on the road along Dak Long Thuong lake, belonging to Loc Duc 10 village.
According to the Military Command of Bao Lam 2 commune, the landslide location is about 1.2km away from the Dak Long Thuong water reservoir spillway.
At the scene, cracks, subsidence and landslides appeared on the road surface. The landslide section is about 200m long, the width of the crack is about 0.2m, and the depth is from 0.2-1.2m.
Cracks and landslides are still extending towards the hillside about 600m, posing a risk of further landslides if heavy rain lasts.
According to initial assessment, the cause may be prolonged heavy rain creating a swift flow, causing soil erosion and landslide of the roadbed structure.
The landslide area is the road to the production area, inside there are no houses.
Three homestays near the area are currently not for business and have no residents, so the incident has not directly affected residents.
Notably, the landslide point is about 1.2km away from the Dak Long Thuong dam. The lake water level is currently low, so according to initial assessments, the incident has not affected dam safety.
Immediately after detecting the incident, the Military Command of the commune, the Commune Police coordinated with the Bao Lam Irrigation Exploitation Management Station and the Commune People's Committee to inspect the site and record the current situation.
Functional forces have stretched ropes and placed warning signs at both ends of the landslide section, and at the same time advised people not to pass through dangerous areas.
Bao Lam 2 Commune People's Committee also reviews households located in areas at high risk of landslides to proactively plan evacuations when necessary.
To date, no casualties have been recorded. Functional forces continue to monitor developments in the area, especially in the context of heavy rain.
