At the scene, the entire road surface is still just a layer of jagged, bumpy crushed stone. Every time a vehicle passes by, clouds of dust and soil swirl up high, flying straight into people's houses on both sides of the road.
Mr. Thai Ngoc Sang - residing in Son Tra ward - shared that dust from the gravel road surface makes people have to close their doors all day, many people even fall because the road is bumpy. To reduce dust, every day he has to pull a water hose to spray in front of his house and hopes the project will be completed soon. Not only suffering from dust in the sunny season, people here also have to face the worry of flooding every time the rainy season comes.
Mr. Dinh Van Loi (resident of Son Tra ward) reflected: "Normally, every time there is heavy rain, the entire amount of water from Ngo Quyen street rushes to this area, while the drainage system is not complete, leading to localized stagnation. Every time it rains, water floods directly into the houses of most surrounding households, seriously affecting daily life. We do not understand why such an important civil transport project has been delayed and prolonged for so long.
The project to upgrade and renovate Vo Duy Ninh road was started on July 7, 2025. According to the document responding to citizens' opinions of the Da Nang Traffic and Agricultural Construction Investment Project Management Board, the project is expected to be completed on January 31, 2026 (ie before the Lunar New Year). However, by the end of June 2026, the project was still in a messy state.
The main cause was identified as problems in site clearance at the intersection of Dinh Cong Tru - Vo Duy Ninh intersection. Functional agencies are committed to urging the contractor to complete asphalt paving in July to soon stabilize people's lives.
To synchronously solve the problem of technical infrastructure and urban flooding in this area, Da Nang City People's Committee has approved a component project: Compensation, support, resettlement, site clearance for the road connecting from Tho Quang residential area expansion to residential area along the Tho Quang - Bien Dong drainage pipeline. This is a project combining the main drainage pipeline to treat flooding for the entire Son Tra ward area.
According to the approved decision, the project has a total investment of up to more than 169 billion VND from the city budget. The preparation and implementation of the project is scheduled for the period from 2025 to 2027.
