Information from Southern Power Corporation (EVNSPC) on April 5th said that from April 1st to April 3rd, 2026, Mr. Cao Quang Quynh - Member of the Member Council of Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) and EVNSPC leaders, leaders of the Southern Power System Dispatch Center (SSO) worked with Tay Ninh Provincial People's Committee, Can Tho City People's Committee and relevant departments and agencies to discuss solutions for coordination and companionship to ensure power supply; and at the same time determined to remove difficulties and obstacles to accelerate the construction progress of power grid projects in the area.
Maximum efforts to ensure electricity for people
In order to ensure electricity supply during the hot season and the whole year of 2026, in addition to management and operation solutions, electricity saving and load adjustment are particularly focused on by power units in Tay Ninh and Can Tho City. Accordingly, units have signed electricity saving agreements with large customers; coordinated with the Department of Industry and Trade, departments, branches and local unions to promote electricity saving propaganda; monitor and periodically evaluate the results of implementing electricity saving targets monthly to promptly rectify; effectively implement load adjustment and voluntary load shift; work with customers to mobilize diesel generators in emergency situations of the power system...
Currently, the electricity industry has been and is proactively implementing solutions, striving to ensure sufficient electricity supply to serve socio-economic development and people's lives. However, in the face of early hot weather in all 3 regions, even intense in the southern region, the Middle East war situation and political instability in the world are disrupting the supply chain, affecting energy security.

Mr. Bui Quoc Hoan - Deputy General Director of EVNSPC - said that to ensure electricity supply in 2026, especially before the dry season, EVN and EVNSPC really need close coordination and stronger involvement from local authorities and electricity users in implementing 4 key solutions: Decisive in using electricity economically and efficiently; encouraging the installation of self-produced and self-consumed rooftop solar power, combined with battery storage systems; promoting load shift programs during peak hours; removing difficulties and obstacles to accelerate the progress of electricity projects in the area, especially key and urgent projects to increase power supply capacity for localities.
Affirming that EVN will make maximum efforts to ensure electricity supply for socio-economic development and people's lives in localities in 2026, Mr. Cao Quang Quynh - Member of the Member Council of EVN - hopes to continue to receive support and closer coordination from leaders of People's Committees, agencies, departments and branches of provinces and cities....

To meet the socio-economic development needs of the locality, especially the double-digit growth requirement, EVN and EVNSPC have prioritized allocating resources to invest in the development of the power grid in Tay Ninh province and Can Tho city. However, there are still many projects facing barriers in site clearance and investment procedures, affecting the progress, including many key and urgent projects to ensure electricity for the locality. Therefore, the electricity sector really needs the more drastic involvement of local authorities in removing barriers and obstacles to accelerate the completion of projects and improve electricity supply capacity.
Localities commit to accompany
As one of the provinces with high electricity load growth in the Southern region, in which the industrial - construction component accounts for 71.63% of commercial electricity, Mr. Nguyen Hong Thanh - Standing Vice Chairman of Tay Ninh Provincial People's Committee - highly appreciated the proactive and positive spirit of EVN and its affiliated units in preparing carefully and methodically plans to ensure electricity for the locality.
Speaking to direct at the working session with EVN, Mr. Nguyen Hong Thanh requested agencies and departments of the province to develop synchronous implementation plans, clearly define the responsibilities of each agency and focal point, thereby soon agreeing and implementing coordination documents between the electricity industry and localities as a basis for inspection and supervision in the implementation process. In particular, it is necessary to closely follow the direction of the Prime Minister, strictly implement the requirement of "five clears, six clears" in organizing the implementation of tasks.
Appreciating the proactiveness of EVN, EVNSPC and related units in implementing solutions to ensure electricity in 2026, as well as the upcoming dry season, Mr. Vuong Quoc Nam - Vice Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee - said that the City is determined to achieve double-digit growth, leading to strong electricity demand growth. To ensure sufficient electricity supply to serve socio-economic development, the City government is committed to accompanying the electricity industry in removing barriers and obstacles, especially the site clearance of electricity projects in the area.
Can Tho City leaders also requested the Department of Industry and Trade, relevant departments and branches in the area and Can Tho City Power Company to closely and responsibly coordinate to promote the implementation of energy saving and efficiency in 2026.
At the working sessions, EVN leaders also proposed that local authorities pay attention and have drastic directions for people, businesses, as well as agencies and departments in provinces and cities to strictly implement Directive No. 10/CT-TTg dated March 30, 2026 of the Prime Minister on strengthening the implementation of electricity saving and developing rooftop solar power. The set target is to save 3% of total electricity consumption, especially in peak months (April, May, June), it is necessary to strive to achieve over 10%; in which, the group of public offices requires saving at least 5% compared to the same period; the group of public lighting saves at least 30% compared to the same period; and the group of commercial services saves at least 50% of advertising lighting...
