A white-throated chicken, a rare wild animal in group IIB, has recently suddenly gotten lost in a resident's house in District 12 and has been handed over to the forest rangers for care.
On August 19, the Ho Chi Minh City Forest Protection Department said it had received a white-throated chicken (scientific name is Lophura nycthemera), weighing 0.7 kg, from a resident named N.T.C (born in 1991) in An Phu Dong ward, District 12.
According to regulations, this white-throated chicken belongs to group IIB in the list of endangered and rare wild animals.

The Ho Chi Minh City Forest Protection Department said that this chicken was initially discovered " got lost" by local residents and had contacted the Ward People's Committee for handling. Initially, the forest rangers planned to release the animals back into the wild. However, through inspection, they found that it showed signs of being nurtured in an artificial environment, leading to the loss of wild behavior.
"It is likely that this rooster has been raised by its owner. Maybe when hearing about the recent cases related to white-legged chickens, the owners released them, then discovered them by the people and handed them over," said a representative of the Ho Chi Minh City Forest Protection Department.

To ensure the safety of this individual, the white-throated chicken has been transferred to the rescue station of Cu Chi Forest Protection Department for long-term care and raise. The authorities are completing legal procedures to establish public ownership of this white-legged chicken.
