Shorten travel time for people during Tet
On February 12, Project Management Board 2 (Ministry of Construction) also announced the opening to traffic and operation of the entire Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon expressway from 11:00 AM on February 12, in order to meet the travel needs of people during the Lunar New Year.
According to Project Management Board 2, the project has been approved by the State Acceptance Inspection Council for the main route section from Km 1050+00 (Km 127+720 of the Da Nang - Quang Ngai expressway) to Km 1138+00 (adjacent to the component project section Hoai Nhon - Quy Nhon). The Vietnam Road Administration has issued a decision approving the traffic organization plan.

Leaders of Project Management Board 2 said that the project has a complete phase design scale of a level 120 expressway, speed of 120km/h. In the current phased investment phase, it has a scale of 4 lanes, a roadbed width of 17m, and a design speed of 80km/h.
After being accepted and approved by competent authorities for related issues, the main Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon expressway section from Km1050 to Km1138+00 will be officially put into operation from 11:00 AM on February 12," a representative of Project Management Board 2 informed.
Initially, the route has not organized toll collection. On the section of the route, there is currently a toll station at Km1050+600, this is a temporary station serving the closed toll collection of the Da Nang - Quang Ngai expressway.
On normal road sections, the maximum allowed speed is 90 km/h for passenger cars, trucks ≤3.5 tons and passenger cars ≤29 seats; 80 km/h for all sleeper buses and other vehicles; minimum speed is 60 km/h.
On branch roads belonging to intersections, the maximum speed is from 50 km/h and is specified on road signs; the speed of connecting routes is according to the regulations of road signs installed on the route.
Vehicles traveling in the North - South direction on 2 lanes of the main expressway (each lane 3.5 m wide) located on the right side in the direction passing through intersections on the Km1051+594 intersection, intersection with Provincial Road 624B, National Highway 24 intersection, Sa Huynh intersection and Hoai Nhon intersection continue to move to the end of the route and enter the Hoai Nhon - Quy Nhon expressway.
Conversely, vehicles participating in traffic on the main highway in the South - North direction travel on 2 lanes of the main highway (each lane 3.5 m wide), located on the right side in the direction of going (South - North), through intersections on the route such as Hoai Nhon intersection (to National Highway 1A), Sa Huynh intersection, National Highway 24 intersection, intersection with provincial road 624B, Nghia Giang intersection continue to move to the beginning of the route and enter the Da Nang - Quang Ngai expressway.
The Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon expressway project is one of the key national projects, belonging to the North-South Expressway in the East phase 2021-2025. The project has a total length of 88km, passing through Quang Ngai province (60.3km) and Gia Lai province (27.7km), with a total investment of more than 20,400 billion VND. The project was started on January 1, 2023, invested by Project Management Board 2 (Ministry of Construction), led by Deo Ca Group joint venture.
Tonight following Hoai Nhon - Quy Nhon, Quy Nhon - Chi Thanh
On February 12, Mr. Bui Trong Lai, Director of the Management Board of Hoai Nhon - Quy Nhon and Quy Nhon - Chi Thanh expressway projects, said that the Hoai Nhon - Quy Nhon expressway and part of the Quy Nhon - Chi Thanh expressway will be opened to traffic at 10 pm tonight.
According to the plan, the Hoai Nhon - Quy Nhon expressway will be put into operation from 10 pm on February 12, connecting with the Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon expressway. The Hoai Nhon - Quy Nhon route is more than 70km long, with a total investment of over 12,400 billion VND.

The Quy Nhon - Chi Thanh expressway, also opened to traffic at 10 pm on the same day, but only partially opened to traffic, from the north of the Cu Mong tunnel connecting to the Hoai Nhon - Quy Nhon expressway. The section south of the Cu Mong tunnel is expected to be put into operation after Tet.
This afternoon, we let workers rest to go home for Tet. The remaining tasks will continue to be implemented after the holiday," Mr. Lai said.
The Project Management Board notes that in the early stages of operation, vehicles when traveling on the expressway should comply with the prescribed speed, pay attention to observation to ensure safety.
The Quy Nhon - Chi Thanh expressway has a length of nearly 62km (excluding 5.1km through Cu Mong tunnel), passing through Gia Lai province (nearly 20km) and Dak Lak (more than 42km), with a total investment of more than 14,800 billion VND. In which, package 11-XL belongs to Gia Lai province; packages 12-XL and 13-XL belong to Dak Lak province.
To date, the entire road surface of the main route of the component project section Quy Nhon - Chi Thanh phase 2021 - 2025 has been 100% asphalt concrete paved.
