On August 26, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Hue City organized the release of nearly 300,000 fish and 6,000 soft-shell turtles into the Perfume River to supplement seed sources, restore aquatic resources and contribute to maintaining biodiversity.
The released aquatic products include crucian carp, golden catfish, catfish, carp and soft-shell turtles. These are aquatic species suitable for natural conditions, contributing to supplementing seed sources, creating conditions for species to grow and develop, thereby maintaining the balance of the aquatic ecosystem.
According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment, annually, aquatic resource regeneration activities are implemented in many water areas in the area such as rivers, reservoirs, lagoons and coastal areas. The selected species include specialty, native species, suitable for freshwater, brackish water and saltwater environments.
The protection and regeneration of aquatic resources and the restoration of the living environment of aquatic species are among the key tasks of the National Program for Protection and Development of Aquatic Resources to 2030 approved by the Prime Minister.
Functional sectors said they will continue to focus on releasing seeds to supplement, regenerate and develop aquatic resources, and at the same time promote socialization to mobilize the community to participate in protecting resources.
Through breeding activities, functional agencies call on people to raise their responsibility to protect aquatic resources, not to use destructive exploitation methods; and at the same time encourage the release of native aquatic species that are permitted and suitable for the natural conditions of each area.
