On December 3, the People's Committee of Gia Lai province agreed on a list of 16 projects and plans to arrange and stabilize residents in disaster areas in the province according to the proposal of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, to ensure people have safe housing before the Lunar New Year 2026.
Accordingly, the whole province has 16 areas proposed for emergency relocation due to natural disasters, including 13 concentrated projects and 3 interspersed options, with a total scale of 2,223 households. Of which, 1,861 households had to move to new places of residence, with a total estimated cost of more than VND 1,840 billion.

Many coastal residential areas threatened by landslides and high tides will be relocated to safe resettlement areas. These areas are located in the communes and wards: Cat Tien, Phu My Dong, Phu My Bac, An Hoa, De Gi, Quy Nhon Dong, and the low-lying areas downstream of the Ba River including the communes of Ia Dreh, Ia Hiao, Uar, Ia Ly, Ia Rsai, Ia Tul.
In the east of Gia Lai province, there are 9 areas (8 concentrated projects, 1 interspersed plan), with a total scale of 1,269 households, of which 907 households need to be relocated, with a total estimated cost of more than 960 billion VND. The western province has 7 areas (5 concentrated projects, 2 interspersed options), a total of 954 households and an estimated cost of more than 880 billion VND.
Mr. Nguyen Tuan Thanh - Permanent Vice Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee - said that the province has assigned the Provincial Agricultural and Rural Development Project Management Board as the investor to implement in the eastern area; the Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board as the investor in the western area. These two units will be fully responsible for the progress, quality and investment efficiency.
The Provincial People's Committee also requires localities with projects/plans to complete the determination of locations, boundaries, adjust and supplement the planning of resettlement areas and hand over the site to the Project Management Board before December 5. Before December 15, compensation must be completed and 100% of the site must be handed over to the Project Management Boards.
