On October 30, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Gia Lai province said that heavy rains over the past few days have caused landslides in some areas in the area, affecting people's lives and safety. In that situation, localities that experienced landslides and were at high risk of landslides have organized the evacuation of people to safe places.

In De Gi commune, the authorities have evacuated 15 households with 51 people living along Ganh mountain area; An Hoa commune has evacuated 6 households with 20 people living around Tra Cong mountain area; Ia Ly commune has evacuated 6 households with 25 people from the landslide area on the road to OPY 500kV Station.

On the same day, Mr. Duong Minh Tan - Chairman of Tuy Phuoc Dong Commune People's Committee - said that due to high tides since the morning of October 30, spillways and many schools in the area were flooded.

"To ensure the safety of students, 6 schools (Tuy Phuoc High School No. 3, Phuoc Hoa Secondary School, Phuoc Thang Secondary School, Phuoc Thang Primary School No. 2, Phuoc Hoa Primary School No. 1 and Phuoc Thang Kindergarten) with 2,653 students were given a day off today. The water has receded, if there are no unusual developments, the students will return to class tomorrow," said Mr. Tan.

According to Mr. Tan, the locality is a low-lying area, often flooded during the rainy and stormy season, so the government and schools have proactively implemented flood prevention plans, ensuring the safety of people and minimizing property damage.

In Vinh Thanh commune, Mr. Le Minh Thong - Chairman of the Commune People's Committee - said that on October 30, the government mobilized forces to overcome the situation of landslides and fallen trees causing traffic congestion on the roads.
"The whole commune recorded 6 landslides, about 47m3 of rock and soil spilled onto the road. The authorities have completed the handling, the roads are now open to traffic, there are no casualties or property damage," said Mr. Thong.
