Vingroup Corporation recently sent a document to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, proposing to study and invest in developing an underground space of about 12.5 hectares in the Ben Thanh area, within the scope of the 1/2000 scale zoning plan for the existing central area of Ho Chi Minh City (930 hectares), Le Lai - Pham Ngu Lao section.
According to Vingroup, the Ben Thanh area has been planned for underground space for transportation, metro stations, technical infrastructure and commercial services.
However, apart from the underground area of Ben Thanh Station on Metro Line 1 (Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien), up to now, this area has not had any investment project to build underground items for trade, services or parking.

On that basis, Vingroup proposed to synchronously develop underground space in the central area to increase parking space, expand commercial - service space, thereby reducing the load on the land, improving urban land use efficiency and promoting the value of the central area.
The Ben Thanh underground space development project will be studied on a scale of about 12.5 hectares, including key functions such as a central station connecting metro lines, commercial - service areas, underground parking lots, etc.
Vingroup is committed to closely coordinating with departments and branches of Ho Chi Minh City to conduct surveys, make detailed plans and implement the project in accordance with legal regulations.

Regarding this proposal, the Office of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has just announced the conclusion of the Chairman of the City People's Committee at the meeting of the Special Working Group to review and remove difficulties for projects in the area, related to the recommendation of Vingroup Corporation.
Ho Chi Minh City supports the proposal of Vinspeed High-speed Railway Investment and Development Joint Stock Company (under Vingroup) to adjust the starting point of the Can Gio Metro line from Tan Thuan Station to Ben Thanh Station.
This adjustment is expected to increase exploitation efficiency, expand service coverage and better connect the economic - administrative center with residential areas and commercial centers.
The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee also proposed that Vingroup study the development of underground space combined with public space in the Ben Thanh market area, in accordance with the general planning, contributing to improving urban aesthetics, promoting tourism and improving traffic in the central area.
