Gia Lai urgently completes runway No. 2, preparing to welcome international Charter flights

Gia Lai - Runway No. 2 of Phu Cat Airport is being accelerated to ensure commercial operation and welcome international Charter flights.

On July 6, Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee said that it had directed departments, branches and related units to coordinate the implementation of tasks to put runway No. 2 at Phu Cat Airport into commercial operation, and at the same time prepare a plan to welcome international Charter flights.

Accordingly, requesting the Gia Lai Provincial Traffic and Civil Works Project Management Board to accelerate the project construction progress; coordinate with functional units of ministries, branches and related units to complete the conditions to put runway No. 2 into commercial operation, no later than September 15.

Coordinate with Phu Cat Airport and related parties to inspect and review the infrastructure serving Charter flights at Terminal T2 and the necessary technical conditions to be ready for commercial operation of runway No. 2.

The Department of Construction is assigned to perform state management functions according to its responsibilities, ensuring commercial exploitation conditions for runway No. 2 and Charter flights according to schedule.

At the same time, advise the Provincial People's Committee to work with airlines that plan to operate when runway No. 2 is eligible for commercial operation, and report to the Provincial People's Committee before July 15.

Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee requests Phu Cat Airport to actively coordinate with relevant agencies and units of the province to complete the conditions for commercial operation of runway No. 2 and Charter flights.

Phu Cat Airport needs to proactively deploy tasks under the unit's responsibility; propose to the managing unit to support the implementation of related contents, especially work related to flight operations, in order to ensure timely and effective operation of Charter flights.

Mr. Luu Nhat Phong - Director of the Project Management Board of Transport and Civil Works of Gia Lai province - said that the project construction progress is being controlled according to the plan. The project is expected to be completed in July, organized for acceptance in August and put into operation.

According to the direction of the Provincial People's Committee, the conditions for commercial operation of runway No. 2 must be completed before September 15th. The Board will deploy tasks to ensure the assigned progress," Mr. Phong said.
