On the morning of July 6, in an exchange with Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Do Thanh Toan - Director of Ocean Beach Trading - Tourism Co., Ltd. - said that in the early morning of the same day, he continued to encounter 2 prey whales in the Vung Boi sea area, An Luong commune (Gia Lai).
According to Mr. Toan, from 4:30 am to morning, the pair of whales appeared about 150-200m from the shore, continuously swimming and opening their mouths to catch prey right on the water surface. Above, flocks of seabirds flew around, continuously rushing into the water to forage, creating a rare natural scene.
According to Mr. Toan, the 2 whales that appeared on the morning of July 6th are very likely the mother-child whale pair that just appeared in Vung Boi sea area at noon on June 29th and morning on June 30th.
At the same time, Mr. Nguyen Van Thai (born 1984, residing in Vinh Loi 1 village, An Luong commune) said that while fishing in Vung Boi sea area in the early morning of the same day, he also discovered a pair of whales swimming and hunting on the sea surface.

From the encounter about a week ago, until after 5 am this morning, I continued to see a pair of hunting whales in Vung Boi sea while fishing," Mr. Thai said.
From 2022 up to now, whales have regularly appeared in many coastal waters of Gia Lai province such as Xuan Thanh (Phu My Dong commune), Vung Boi (An Luong commune), De Gi, Hon Seo, Hon Co, Nhon Hai, Hon Kho (Quy Nhon Dong ward) and Mui Ganh (Hoai Nhon Dong ward)...

The continuous appearance of whales shows that Gia Lai sea area has a rich natural food source, creating favorable conditions for this species to come foraging.
The frequent appearance of whales in recent years has also opened up a new attraction for Gia Lai beach tourism. Besides swimming or coral diving activities, tourists also have the opportunity to observe wild whales in the natural environment.
However, local authorities recommend that people and tourists need to comply with regulations when detecting whales. Boats and ships must maintain a minimum distance of 100m, do not approach too close to avoid scaring whales or colliding causing injury to them. When whales are detected nearby, vehicles should slow down, drift or turn off engines to limit noise.
