On August 4, the People's Committee of Gia Lai province said it had assigned the Department of Agriculture and Environment to survey and evaluate sand reserves in the Kon River and An Lao River areas.
At the same time, the province requires the completion of legal documents to carry out construction sand dredging at reservoirs and upstream dams in the province, with the goal of completion in August 2025.
The Provincial People's Committee also assigned the Provincial Traffic and Civil Works Project Management Board, together with the Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board, to conduct statistics on the total volume of construction materials for the projects.
From there, it will be the basis for calculating and proposing the need to use construction material mines. The provincial authorities have also proactively reserved materials from the mines to avoid shortages when implementing the project.

Currently, Gia Lai is urgently speeding up the preparation of documents, procedures and construction plans for the Quy Nhon - Pleiku expressway project, the North - South high-speed railway and a number of other key projects.
It is known that mineral exploitation in upstream reservoirs must ensure safety for reservoir and dam works; absolutely do not let incidents such as subsidence or damage, causing negative impacts on the environment and people's lives.
The Quy Nhon - Pleiku expressway project is designed with 4 lanes, a 24.75m wide roadbed, and a design speed of 100 km/h. This project is proposed to be invested in the form of public investment, with a total preliminary capital of more than 43,730 billion VND.
The project is expected to make an important contribution to promoting trade, developing logistics services, transporting agricultural products and goods, enhancing inter-regional connectivity, thereby creating momentum for socio-economic development for the region.
