On July 18, Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee said that the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee has agreed on the policy of implementing policies to support the dismantling of fishing vessels according to Resolution No. 27/2025/NQ-HDND for 16 fishing vessels damaged in the fire that occurred in the Thi Nai lagoon area at noon on June 29.
Among these, 5 fishing vessels have registered for classification and 11 fishing vessels have not registered.
The Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Agriculture and Environment to coordinate with relevant agencies to guide Cat Tien Commune People's Committee to implement policies in accordance with regulations. The Department of Finance is assigned to advise and propose funding sources for implementation, and submit them to the Provincial People's Committee for consideration and decision.

Previously, at noon on June 29, a fire broke out from a fishing boat anchored in the Nhon Phuoc area, bordering Quy Nhon Dong ward and Tuy Phuoc Dong commune. The fire burned down 12 fishing boats and partially burned 4 other boats.
At the time of the fire, the tide receded deeply, causing many boats to get stranded and unable to move out of the dangerous area. The fire quickly spread to adjacent anchored boats, and many fishermen were helpless to watch their family's livelihoods being burned down.
Notably, among the 16 burned ships, 4 ships had previously sunk and 12 ships were damaged due to storm No. 13. After being repaired to continue going offshore, the ships encountered fires again, causing heavy property damage and seriously affecting the livelihoods of ship owners.

Immediately after the fire, Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee decided to support households with burned ships with 15kg of rice/person and 3 million VND/household/month for 3 months to help fishermen overcome immediate difficulties.
According to Lao Dong Newspaper's records, after the initial support policy, many fishermen hope to soon receive financial support to repair their boats, access capital sources and convert livelihoods to stabilize their lives for a long time.
The Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee's implementation of the policy of supporting the dismantling of all 16 damaged fishing boats shows concern, timely listening and meeting the wishes of fishermen. This is also the basis for ship owners to soon change their livelihoods and gradually stabilize their lives after the fire incident.
