In the period 2021-2025, cooperative relations between Gia Lai province and 3 northeastern provinces of Cambodia were maintained and developed in many fields such as foreign affairs, trade, investment, transportation, border security, education, health, search and repatriation of martyrs' remains.
Although there are still some limitations, with the attention of the leaders of the two countries and the efforts of localities, cooperation in the 2026-2030 period is expected to continue to expand, go deeper, more practical and effective.
Thereby, contributing to promoting socio-economic development, maintaining national defense and security, and strengthening Vietnam-Cambodia solidarity and friendship.
At the conference, the People's Committee of Gia Lai province and the governments of 3 provinces Ratanakiri, Stung Treng, Preah Vihear signed memorandums of understanding on cooperation for the period 2026-2030.
On this occasion, the Stung Treng provincial government and Hoang Anh Gia Lai Joint Stock Company also signed a memorandum of understanding on investing in the development of a project to plant fruit trees and industrial crops on an area of 1,918ha in the locality.
Hoang Anh Gia Lai Joint Stock Company is one of the pioneering enterprises investing in the agricultural sector in Cambodia. Currently, this enterprise is implementing a large-scale agricultural project in Stung Treng province on an area of 3,000ha, focusing on growing fresh bananas, durian and mulberry.
In addition, the Stung Treng provincial government continues to support businesses to implement new projects on high-tech agricultural development with fruit trees and industrial crops on an area of 1,918ha, with a total investment of nearly 28.8 million USD.
Speaking at the conference, Mr. Pham Anh Tuan - Member of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee - said that the cooperative relationship between Gia Lai province and the northeastern provinces of Cambodia has been expanded and is increasingly deepening.
In particular, economic, trade and investment cooperation has been gradually strengthened. Le Thanh - Oyadav international border gate is increasingly playing an important trade hub role, creating favorable conditions for businesses of both sides to connect production, consumption and export of goods.
Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee emphasized that the conference is an important milestone, opening a new stage of cooperation with higher requirements, more substantive and more effective. Gia Lai province is committed to closely coordinating with friendly provinces to effectively implement the signed cooperation contents, with the spirit of "helping friends is helping ourselves", developing together, and winning together.
Mr. Thai Dai Ngoc - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of Gia Lai Provincial Party Committee - emphasized that Vietnam and Cambodia are 2 close neighboring countries, with long-standing traditional friendly relations, nurtured through many historical periods.
According to the Secretary of Gia Lai Provincial Party Committee, after the merger, Gia Lai province has an open development space, along with the advantage of connecting the Central Highlands with the Central Coast, between international border gates and seaports, logistics services and strategic traffic axes. These are favorable conditions to expand cooperation with northeastern Cambodian localities in the coming time.
In the context of the regional and world situation continuing to be complicated, Mr. Thai Dai Ngoc requested that immediately after the signing ceremony, the parties urgently concretize the cooperation contents.
