Gia Lai - Road expressways in the highlands are expected to strengthen inter-regional and inter-provincial connectivity and maintain border security.

Expressway connecting the Central Highlands

On May 25, Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee agreed to propose the construction of the Pleiku - Buon Ma Thuot - Gia Nghia expressway project with a total length of about 258km.

According to the proposal, the section passing through Gia Lai province is about 56.7km long; passing through Dak Lak province is about 125.5km; passing through Lam Dong province is about 74.8km.

The expressway is designed with a speed of 100km/h, scale of 4 lanes, roadbed width of 24.75m. The preliminary total investment of the project is estimated at nearly 77,000 billion VND, expected to be implemented in the form of public-private partnership (PPP).

Duc Long Gia Lai Group Joint Stock Company proposed a plan where the state budget supports 70% of the total investment capital, and the remaining 30% is mobilized by investors.

Clarify economic efficiency

Leaders of the three localities also committed to closely coordinate with the Ministry of Construction in site clearance, handing over the site to the investor for construction, striving to put the road into operation before 2030.

Previously, Gia Lai also proposed to the Government to invest in the construction of the Pleiku - Le Thanh expressway (connecting the Quy Nhon - Pleiku expressway), with a length of about 75km.

Gia Lai province proposes that the Prime Minister consider and direct the Ministry of Construction to pay attention to and approve the policy of researching and supplementing the Pleiku - Le Thanh expressway into the national expressway network development plan.

Regarding the above projects, leaders of the Ministry of Construction requested Lam Dong, Dak Lak and Gia Lai provinces to carefully assess the necessity, socio-economic efficiency as well as the ability to balance resources. At the same time, ensure compliance with regulations on investment in the form of public-private partnerships.
