Delegates express voters' concerns
In recent years, the sessions of the Gia Lai Provincial People's Council (GPC) have all taken place with enthusiasm and quality. In particular, it attracted the attention of the public with the questioning and answering activities of heads of departments, branches, agencies and units.
Promoting their role and responsibility, the delegates of the Provincial People's Council focused on questioning issues that caused public concern and affected people's lives such as: Environmental pollution, inadequacies in renewable energy planning, improving the investment environment, land compensation, etc.
Gia Lai province currently has about 130 large-scale cow and pig farms and 329 large-scale pig farms approved and put into operation. However, in Chu Prong district, voters reported that many pig farms of enterprises pollute the environment, disrupting people's lives.
The Provincial People's Council delegate said that the environmental impact assessment of functional agencies still has many limitations. The delegate recommended that investors who violate the law should be strictly and thoroughly handled, and cannot be punished, so that people continue to be affected.
Livestock issues affect local security and order, rural security. Gia Lai is the locality with the largest number of pig farming in the country, with too many projects concentrated in one commune, while the use of local labor is very limited.
From the people's reflection and the urgent recommendations of the delegates, the leaders of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Gia Lai province have requested to strengthen sanctions against enterprises that violate and cause pollution.
The unit also proposed that the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment amend regulations on livestock density and distance from pig farms to residential areas.

At the provincial People's Council sessions, delegates also expressed concern about the situation of covering up investment to illegally transfer and buy and sell projects. Administrative procedures in attracting investment still cause difficulties for businesses.
The delegate requested the police to investigate cases with signs of illegal project transfers and sales. Among them, there are businesses that do not have enough capacity and expertise but still ask for investment policies.
Queries to identify problems from the grassroots
Regarding the investment environment, responding to the Provincial People's Council and voters, Chairman of the Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee Rah Lan Chung frankly acknowledged the need to review and cut unnecessary administrative procedures, reduce costs, time and effort for businesses.
Gia Lai province is strategically building an open and friendly relationship with the business community through organizing "dialogue cafes", listening to remove difficulties and obstacles for businesses, and promoting investment projects.
Thereby, contributing to socio-economic development, improving people's lives, especially in remote areas.
According to the Standing Vice Chairman of the Gia Lai Provincial People's Council - Mr. Truong Van Dat, the questioning of representatives of departments and branches at the sessions is of great significance in state power supervision activities, especially at People's Council sessions at all levels.
Leaders of departments and branches must publicize information and clearly explain the shortcomings and limitations. Thereby, promoting transparency, especially on "hot" issues such as land management, environment, public investment, social security, etc.
Many questions from delegates came from recommendations and reflections from voters, the press and public opinion, helping the government identify the issue from the grassroots to adjust policies promptly.
questioning is one of the important monitoring tools, clearly demonstrating the democracy, responsibility and effectiveness of the People's Council's activities.
