Reduce energy consumption
At a field trip on April 17 in Can Tho City, Mr. Dao Duy Tuan Hung, Deputy General Director of Tay Do Steel Co., Ltd. (Tra Noc 1 Industrial Park) shared the specific results of the Voluntary Agreement Program to promote energy saving and efficiency in energy-intensive industries (VAS), in the Vietnam - Denmark Energy Partnership Program for the period 2020 - 2025 (DEPP3).
Currently, this company is using energy forms: electricity, DO oil, gas (LPG), gasoline. In which, electricity is consumed the most, accounting for more than 98%. For the production line, the steel smelting process consumes the most electricity, accounting for more than 85% of the company's total output.

Before the improvement, the enterprise consumed about 128 million kWh/year, emitted about 62.2 million tons of CO2 from closed houses, and had an energy consumption rate of 2,554 MJ/ton.
After improvement, the company reduced it to below 2,500 MJ/ton (ensuring compliance with the requirements for energy consumption in the steel industry of the Ministry of Industry and Trade), saving about 5.2 million kWh/year with environmental benefits of a reduction of 3, 451 tons of CO2 per year.

Participating in DEPP3, in the energy saving program, the company has solved many problems. Currently, we still set norms for energy consumption reduction, about 2%/product/year; converting diesel-fueled vehicles to electric vehicles to reduce environmental emissions, installing solar power systems" - Mr. Hung said.
In the field of seafood, NTSF Seafood Joint Stock Company (Thot Not Industrial Park) focuses on the refrigeration system - an area that consumes more than 70% of electricity. Replacing 12 old piston compressors with 3 high-performance screwdriver compressors with integrated inverters helps optimize load and improve operating efficiency.
This solution is expected not only to save energy, reduce costs, cut CO2 but also improve working conditions.
Sustainable Development Goals
DEPP3 is a technical assistance project funded by the Danish Government with total non-refundable ODA capital.
The program includes 3 components, of which component 3 is low-carbon development in industry, implemented by the Department of Innovation, Green Transformation and Industrial Promotion (Ministry of Industry and Trade).
VAS is a technical support activity of the DEPP3 Program, providing high-quality and free technical support to industrial enterprises to improve energy efficiency and reduce CO2 emissions.

The program helps businesses conduct energy audits according to international standards, conduct detailed economic and technical analyses to build feasible and capital-using energy-efficient projects.
To date, VAS has supported 21 key energy-consuming industrial enterprises, helping to identify 119 energy-efficient projects with potential cost savings of about 6 million USD and a reduction of 77,913 tons of CO2 per year.
Representative of the Department of Innovation, Green Transformation and Industrial Promotion, Mr. Hoang Van Tam, Head of the General Department and International Cooperation - Information, said that the VAS program is a clear demonstration of effective cooperation between the State and businesses in promoting energy saving.
Participating businesses not only reduce production costs, increase competitiveness, but also make an important contribution to Vietnam's greenhouse gas emission reduction goals.
