According to reporters' records on the first day of deployment, fixed barriers were erected at the intersection of Nguyen Trai street and Giap Nhat street, near the Royal City urban area.
Many construction site warning signs, speed limit signs and directional arrows are placed in front of the construction area to guide vehicles.
The barrier area has narrowed the area for vehicles to circulate compared to before. Vehicles when passing through must reduce speed and move in a circular direction through the barrier. The number of motorbikes accounts for the majority, moving in rows through the narrowed road section.
Ms. Nguyen My - a resident living in this area - said that the Nguyen Trai road section - the area near Giap Nhat street - has often experienced traffic jams during peak hours. Therefore, when more construction barriers appear, the risk of traffic jams may increase.
This section used to be very crowded during rush hour, many times moving very slowly. Now with more barriers, the road is narrowed, so the possibility of traffic jams will probably be higher" - Ms. My said.

According to the Hanoi Department of Construction, the construction barricade will take place until the end of May 31, 2026.
Accordingly, on Nguyen Trai street, the section from Royal City to Nguyen Trai - Vu Trong Phung intersection (792m long), the contractor will install fixed barriers with sectional barriers of 20 - 30m long, road excavation width of 4.6m, barrier width of 5.6m (excavated in the middle of the road surface area from Nga Tu So to Ring Road 3, section from Royal City to Nguyen Trai - Vu Trong Phung intersection, 792m long) to construct the box culvert line. The road surface width (direction from Nga Tu So to Ring Road 3) remains on average from 5 - 12m on each side of the barriers for vehicles to circulate locally through the construction locations.
The contractor constructs in segments of 20-30m in length, restoring the road surface structure to the asphalt concrete layer equal to the current road surface elevation before organizing the construction of the next segment to ensure safety for vehicles in circulation after the barriers are recovered.
At locations excavated through the median strip opening points on Nguyen Trai street, functional agencies prohibit vehicles from roads and alleys connecting to Nguyen Trai street within a radius of 50m (calculated from the beginning of the barrier towards Nga Tu So) to turn around at the median strip opening point. Vehicles going straight on Nguyen Trai street (direction to Ring Road 3), turn around at the next median strip opening point to go towards Nga Tu So.
For the construction area through the Cu Loc - Nguyen Trai intersection, functional agencies prohibit cars from Cu Loc street from turning left and turning around at the turnaround point at pier DR31. Vehicles will turn around at the median strip opening point at pier DR32 or turn around at the median strip opening point under Thuong Dinh Station. Add soft barriers to limit motorbikes going against traffic through the barrier area to turn left and turn around, causing traffic unsafety.
The section from the Nguyen Trai - Vu Trong Phung intersection to the pedestrian bridge in front of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (317m long), the contractor installed mobile barriers, constructed rolling sections of 10m long and 4m wide on Nguyen Trai street (excavated under the road surface 0.5 - 1.5m from the edge of the curb from Nga Tu So to Ring Road 3) to construct the box culvert line. The remaining road surface width is an average of 16 - 18m for vehicles to circulate locally through the construction locations.
The contractor barricaded construction from 10 pm to 5 am the next morning, restoring the road surface structure to the rough paving layer equal to the current road surface elevation before organizing the construction of the next section to ensure safety for vehicles traveling after the barricade is recovered.
The section from the pedestrian bridge in front of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities to the Nguyen Trai - Nguyen Tuan intersection (149m long) is mobilely barricaded, constructed rolling sections 10m long, road excavation width 2m, barrier width 3m on Nguyen Trai street (excavated under the road surface 0.5 - 1.5m from the edge of the curb from Nga Tu So to Ring Road 3) to construct the culvert line. The remaining road surface width is on average from 17 - 20m for vehicles to circulate locally through the construction locations.
The contractor barricaded construction from 10 pm to 5 am the next morning, restoring the road surface structure to the rough paving layer equal to the current road surface elevation before organizing the construction of the next section to ensure safety for vehicles traveling after the barricade is recovered.
