According to the traffic diversion plan of the Hanoi Department of Construction, from March 14 to the end of May 31, 2026, some sections on Nguyen Trai street, with a total length of more than 1km, will be fenced off to serve the construction of the flood prevention project in the inner city area. The barricading is to ensure traffic safety during the construction of new sewer lines along Nguyen Trai street with a total length of about 1.2km, in Thanh Xuan ward.
Specifically, on Nguyen Trai street, the section from Royal City urban area to Nguyen Trai - Vu Trong Phung intersection (792m long), the contractor will install fixed barriers in each 20 - 30m long section. The road excavation width is about 4.6m, the barrier width is 5.6m. The construction area is located in the middle of the road surface in the direction from Nga Tu So to Ring Road 3 to construct the box culvert line.
After barricading, the remaining road surface width in the direction from Nga Tu So to Ring Road 3 is on average from 5 - 12m on each side of the barricade for vehicles to circulate locally through the construction area.
The contractor will construct according to each segment 20 - 30m long. After completing each segment, the construction unit must restore the road surface structure to the asphalt concrete layer equal to the current road surface elevation before deploying the next segment to ensure traffic safety after recovering barriers.
At locations excavated through the median strip opening area on Nguyen Trai street, functional agencies prohibit vehicles from roads and alleys connecting to Nguyen Trai street within a radius of 50m (calculated from the beginning of the barrier towards Nga Tu So) to turn around at the median strip opening point. Vehicles going straight on Nguyen Trai street in the direction of Ring Road 3 will turn around at the next median strip opening point to move towards Nga Tu So.
For the construction area through the Cu Loc - Nguyen Trai intersection, cars from Cu Loc street are prohibited from turning left and turning around at the turning point at pier DR31. Vehicles will turn around at the median strip opening point at pier DR32 or at the median strip opening point under Thuong Dinh station. At the same time, functional forces will add soft barriers to limit motorbikes going against traffic through the barrier area to turn left or turn around, causing traffic unsafety.
The section from Nguyen Trai - Vu Trong Phung intersection to the pedestrian bridge in front of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (317m long) will be mobilely barricaded, constructed sequentially in sections 10m long and 4m wide. The excavation area is located under the road surface, 0.5 - 1.5m away from the edge of the curb from Nga Tu So to Ring Road 3 to construct the box culvert line. The remaining road surface width is an average of 16 - 18m for vehicles to pass through the construction area.
At this section, the contractor organizes construction at night, from 10 pm to 5 am the next morning. After each construction shift, the road surface will be returned to the rough paving layer equal to the current elevation before deploying the next section to ensure traffic safety.
Along with that, the section from the pedestrian bridge in front of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities to the Nguyen Trai - Nguyen Tuan intersection (149m long) is also mobilely barricaded, constructed sequentially in 10m long sections. The road excavation width is about 2m, the fence width is 3m; the excavation location is 0.5 - 1.5m away from the edge of the curb in the direction from Nga Tu So to Ring Road 3 to construct the sewer line.
After barricading, the remaining road surface width is on average from 17 - 20m for vehicles to circulate locally through the construction area. Construction is also carried out from 10 pm to 5 am the next morning and the road surface is restored to the rough carpet layer before moving to the next section.
