On October 6, informing reporters, Ms. Nguyen Thi Tam - Chairman of Thanh Long Commune People's Committee said that a strange phenomenon had just appeared in the area when thousands of earthworms crawled out of the ground, making people worried and uneasy.
The above phenomenon took place at Cay Hop field, Trung Thanh 1 village, Thanh Long commune (Ham Yen) and appeared on two mornings on October 5 and 6, lasting from about 6am to 8am.
Mr. Ha Minh Tan - Head of Trung Thanh 1 village said, thousands of earthworms crawled out of the ground, crawled around, gathered in clumps, and rolled together, looking very creepy.
Witnessing the incident, many local residents used their phones to record videos and take photos, then posted them on social networking sites, attracting a large number of viewers, comments, and causing public confusion.
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Tam - Chairman of Thanh Long Commune People's Committee, this is the first time in the commune that an unusual phenomenon with such a large number of earthworms has occurred.
"As soon as we received the information, this afternoon (October 6), the locality coordinated with the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Ham Yen district to conduct an inspection.
There is still no conclusion about the cause, the locality is still continuing to closely monitor the above phenomenon, at the same time propagating information to prevent people from panicking, affecting security and order," said the commune leader.
