On September 12, Lao Dong Newspaper published an article reflecting on the 1,300 billion VND traffic project's slow progress, affecting the lives of many people. The next day (September 13), Mr. Le Thanh Do - Chairman of Dien Bien Provincial People's Committee inspected the site and gave drastic instructions.
During the inspection, Mr. Le Thanh Do requested Dien Bien Phu City and Dien Bien District (localities with land belonging to the project) to focus on inventory work and promptly complete the handover of the site to the contractors.
At the same time, allow the implementation of resettlement land funds of other projects to arrange resettlement for households in need and eligible for resettlement; Implement support policies and rent temporary accommodation for people.
The project completion time on December 31, 2024 is gradually shortening, while the remaining workload is very large. The Chairman of the People's Committee of Dien Bien province requested contractors to concentrate human resources, work in 3 shifts, and work day and night to speed up the progress.
Mr. Le Thanh Do also requested the investor (Dien Bien Province Traffic Project Management Board) to strengthen supervision to ensure the quality of construction works. "In case the contractors do not meet the requirements and construction progress, the investor needs to handle according to authority, invite other investors to ensure progress" - Mr. Do emphasized.
On September 14, according to Lao Dong Newspaper's reporter, on the 29.57km long section of the road outside the urban area, contractors mobilized vehicles and human resources to urgently "restart" the project.
Previously, as Lao Dong Newspaper reported, the traffic project connecting key economic areas in the dynamic economic zone along National Highway 279 and National Highway 12 in Dien Bien province (dynamic road) with a total investment of 1,300 billion VND in Dien Bien was behind schedule, affecting the lives of many people.
The reason why most of the construction packages have been suspended for many months is said to be due to continuous rain and lack of clean ground for construction. Therefore, in the past few days, hundreds of households living along the main route of National Highway 12 and National Highway 279, which is 19.56km long, have been affected by flooding and mud.
The investor representative also said that the dynamic road project is currently facing many challenges, especially the issue of site clearance.
