In the early morning of November 17, a strong tornado suddenly swept through Phuoc Loi and Tan Son villages, Nguyen Nghiem commune (Quang Ngai). As a result, 25 houses had their roofs blown off, many properties damaged, trees and electric poles fell. Fortunately, there were no human casualties.
Immediately after the natural disaster, Regiment 887 of the Quang Ngai Provincial Military Command mobilized more than 40 officers and soldiers to the scene. The forces coordinated with the militia of Nguyen Nghiem commune, the police and local units to clear the scene, rebuild houses, transport assets and inspect areas at risk of insecurity.
The unit deployed the task that night with a spirit of urgency, focusing on supporting people to promptly overcome the damage and stabilize their lives.
At the scene, the militia of Nguyen Nghiem commune were on duty all the time, prioritizing support for elderly and single households. The local force set a goal for the day to help households have temporary shelter, avoiding the risk of insecurity when the weather continues to be complicated.
Many households suffered heavy damage, in which Ms. Thach Thi Muong's family was greatly affected when the entire roof and many items were swept away. The couple was lucky to escape when the tiles fell right when the tornado reached. After the tornado, the house was reduced to a dilapidated wall.
By noon of the same day, the forces had helped many families re-roof temporary roofs, collect broken materials and reinforce the affected area. Timely support contributes to stabilizing people's lives and limiting risks arising after natural disasters.
