On the occasion of the Binh Ngo Lunar New Year 2026, Hanoi City has arranged 29 free parking spots at historical sites, spiritual tourist attractions and areas for organizing New Year's Eve fireworks displays. This is considered a practical solution, contributing to ensuring urban order, traffic safety and creating favorable conditions for people to travel in spring and visit pagodas at the beginning of the year.
According to Hanoi City Police, in addition to strengthening patrols and handling violations of traffic safety and order, functional forces have advised the City People's Committee to simultaneously deploy free parking spots in crowded areas. In parallel with that, illegal parking lots and improper fee collection are also inspected and strictly handled to protect the legitimate rights of people.

Not only stopping at supporting vehicle parking, this policy is also implemented synchronously with many accompanying solutions such as traffic diversion, one-way traffic organization, and arranging forces to ensure security and order in festival areas. Thanks to this, people's travel, sightseeing, and worship activities in the first days of the year are more orderly, safe, and convenient than in previous years.
Recorded at Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giam, where the Spring Calligraphy Festival takes place, attracting a large number of people and tourists, free car and motorbike parking spots are arranged centrally, with clear signs. Functional forces and volunteers are regularly on duty, guiding people to park in the right places, contributing to limiting the chaotic parking situation around the relic site.
Similarly, at Phu Tay Ho, a spiritual location that is always crowded with people coming to worship at the beginning of the year, a free parking plan is implemented combined with one-way traffic diversion. Police, youth union members and specialized security forces take turns on duty in shifts, both keeping vehicles and supporting people to move safely and in accordance with regulations.
Many other relics such as Quan Thanh Temple, Ha Pagoda, Bach Ma Temple, Van Nien Pagoda or Tran Quoc Pagoda are also organized to park vehicles for free or at listed prices. Arranging parking lots in reasonable locations has contributed to significantly reducing the situation of encroachment on roads and sidewalks that caused frustration in previous festival seasons.
Representatives of Tay Ho Ward People's Committee said that the free parking model helps to organize the entry and exit of the relic site more scientifically, both ensuring safety for tourists and preserving urban beauty. At the same time, the pressure on functional forces in traffic regulation has also decreased significantly.

From the perspective of the people, this policy has received widespread agreement and support. Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Chi (resident in Cau Giay district, Hanoi) shared that in previous years, every time she went to the temple at the beginning of the year, she often had to park her car at spontaneous parking lots with high costs, even worrying about safety. "This year, there is a free parking lot near the relic site, and there are functional forces to look after and provide specific guidance, so I am very reassured," Ms. Chi said.
Sharing the same view, Mr. Tran Thanh Tung (Nhan Chinh ward) said that arranging clear parking spots and having guidance forces makes going to temples more convenient and limits congestion. "This is a very practical policy, so it should be maintained for a long time," Mr. Tung said.
The simultaneous deployment of free parking spots, combined with public transport support and increased traffic diversion, not only helps people travel conveniently, contributes to preventing spontaneous parking lots, limiting the situation of overcharging, thereby enhancing the image of a civilized and friendly city.
Many opinions believe that free parking is not only a temporary solution during the Binh Ngo Lunar New Year 2026 but needs to be implemented and replicated in the following festival seasons. This is considered a suitable direction in urban order management, putting people at the center of service, towards building a safe, convenient and sustainable living environment for the Capital.
