The People's Committee of Hanoi announced a plan to evaluate the implementation status of food safety regulations by food production, business, and import establishments in preparation for the Mid-Autumn Festival. Through the inspection and examination activities, it is expected to promptly detect and prevent food safety violations, reduce food poisoning cases, and prevent foodborne diseases, thereby contributing to the good work of caring for and protecting the people's health.
On the other hand, the plan aims to evaluate the leadership and implementation of food safety measures during the Mid-Autumn Festival by all levels and sectors from the city to districts, towns, and communes. The implementation period is from August 5, 2024, to September 20, 2024, in 30 districts, towns, and cities.
The implementation activities include strengthening propaganda and education to raise awareness and practice among food producers, business owners, and consumers during the Mid-Autumn Festival. The content of the propaganda will be tailored to each target group.
For food production and business establishments, the regulations on food safety conditions, equipment, knowledge, and practices of directly involved personnel, raw material origin, use of food additives, flavorings, packaging materials, labeling, product registration, and product storage; food safety conditions at the place of sale, import of food products, and product declaration will be enforced.
Under no circumstances should expired, moldy, or unsafe food products be sold. Widespread dissemination of information about food establishments that ensure food safety will be conducted.
For consumers, the dissemination of information about consumer rights and obligations in using food products; guidance on selecting, processing, storing, and using safe food products; prohibition of using food additives outside the approved list, for the wrong purpose, or in excess of the prescribed quantity will be conducted.
The implementation of inspection and examination activities will be carried out. For departments, branches, and sectors, based on the management situation of each sector, they will proactively organize inspection and examination teams or inter-sectoral inspection teams to inspect food production, processing, business, and import establishments that are frequently used during the Mid-Autumn Festival.
Districts, towns, and cities will base themselves on the situation in their localities to proactively organize inspection and examination teams or inter-sectoral inspection teams to inspect food safety activities Mid-Autumn Festival 2024 at communes, wards, and towns; inspect food production, business, and processing establishments that have been delegated on the territory; trace the origin of unsafe food products; and organize the signing of commitment letters on food safety responsibility with food production and business establishments according to regulations.
The People's Committee of Hanoi requires that the inspection and examination activities have a clear focus and priority, concentrating on violations of food quality and safety conditions in production, business, and advertising of food products, with a focus on food production and business establishments that produce Mid-Autumn Festival cakes. Strict punishment will be imposed on establishments that violate the law.
During the inspection and examination process, good work will be done in propagating and educating knowledge and regulations on food safety, raising awareness and community consciousness in food safety work, and preventing food poisoning and foodborne diseases during the peak Mid-Autumn Festival period.
