The investor consortium proposed to build Giang Bien bridge across the Duong River and access roads at both ends of the bridge in PPP form, with a preliminary total investment of nearly 9,000 billion VND.
The Hanoi Department of Finance has just reported to the Hanoi People's Committee on the implementation of the Giang Bien bridge construction project across the Duong River and the approach roads at both ends of the bridge, which is proposed by a consortium of investors including Hateco Group Joint Stock Company, Giang Bien Construction Investment Joint Stock Company and Dai Duong Xanh Construction Investment Consulting Joint Stock Company to be implemented in the form of public-private partnership (PPP), BT contract type.
According to the proposal, the project is implemented in Viet Hung, Phuc Loi wards and Phu Dong commune. The starting point of the route connects to Chu Huy Man street, the ending point connects to the intersection area of the Hanoi - Gia Binh airport connecting road project.
The total land use area is about 26.2ha, of which Phuc Loi ward is about 8.75ha, Phu Dong commune 15.25ha and Viet Hung ward 2.2ha.
The preliminary design plan shows that the road has a total length of about 5.49km. Of which, the main route is 4.85km long and the branch line connecting Giang Bien port is 0.64km long. The route is designed according to urban main road standards, design speed of 80km/h, cross-section width of 50m with 6 motorized lanes, 2 mixed lanes and a system of sidewalks and medians.
The main bridge over the Duong River is more than 2.3km long. The preliminary total investment of the project is about 8,943 billion VND, including site clearance and construction costs. The project aims to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2030.
According to Mr. Le Trung Hieu - Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Finance, relevant departments and agencies all assess that the investment in Giang Bien bridge is necessary to strengthen traffic connection between the central area of Hanoi and the north of the Red River and Bac Ninh and Lang Son provinces.
The project is also expected to contribute to reducing the load on existing bridges across the Red River and Duong River, meeting the needs of urban, industrial, logistics development and strengthening regional linkages.
In particular, the study of urban development on both sides of the Giang Bien bridge access road is assessed to be consistent with the orientation of urban space development along the West Lake - Co Loa - Gia Binh airport axis, one of the important development driving axes of the Capital according to the new plan.
