The project to renovate and expand Nguyen Tuan street was approved by the old Thanh Xuan District People's Committee in 2018, with a total investment of nearly 400 billion VND.
The project is 720 m long, the starting point intersects with Nguyen Trai street, the ending point reaches alley 162 Nguyen Tuan, the cross-section is expanded to 21 m, including a 15m wide road surface and 2 sidewalks each side 3 m wide.
To implement the project to renovate and expand Nguyen Tuan street, Thanh Xuan district must recover and clear 14,334 m2 of land from 11 organizations and 160 households and individuals.
However, the above-mentioned transportation project could not be implemented according to the initial plan because many households did not agree to hand over the land.
After many times of propaganda and mobilization, by November 2024, the site clearance work for the Nguyen Tuan road expansion project was basically completed.
Local authorities then handed over most of the ground area for contractors to implement the project, setting a goal to complete the project in 2025.

From July 1st, after being operated by the 2-level government, the Nguyen Tuan road expansion project was transferred to Thanh Xuan Ward People's Committee as the investor.
The process of converting local government at 2 levels requires changes in investors and bidding procedures, so some bidding packages have not ensured the initial schedule (bidding packages for relocating electricity systems, information systems...).
Due to having to solve some existing problems as well as difficulties and obstacles, the completion progress of the entire project was postponed to March 2026, instead of 2025 as initially planned.

In the southern area of the city, the progress of the Kim Dong - Giai Phong underpass project is also being accelerated.
The underpass project with a total investment of 778 billion VND is invested by the Hanoi Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board, started in October 2022.
The project has a total length of tunnel and access road of 890 m in the direction of Ring Road 2.5, of which the closed tunnel is 140 m long, the open tunnel is 320 m long. The section passing through the tunnel is 2 lanes wide 3.5 m/lane in each direction; the section outside the tunnel is 3 lanes wide 3.5 m/lane in each direction.
During the 2026 New Year holiday, the contractor still mobilized many machines and workers to construct the remaining items to bring the project to completion in the first quarter of 2026.

When completed and put into use, the Kim Dong - Giai Phong underpass will contribute to solving traffic congestion at this complex intersection, connecting the Ring Road 2.5, especially the Dam Hong - National Highway 1A section, creating a continuous traffic axis, improving traffic capacity and strengthening connectivity in the Southern Hanoi area, serving socio-economic development.
In addition to the above projects, in 2026, Hanoi will also put into operation a series of ring road projects, including: Ring Road 1, Hoang Cau - Voi Phuc section, Ring Road 2.5, Dam Hong - National Highway 1A section and Ring Road 4 parallel road in the Capital region.
